Newbie from Germany!!!

Hi, I just startet reading the forum and wanted to say hello. The forum sounds like a lot of fun. I started quilting ten years ago while I was staying in Colorado as an aupair. Quilting is not so popular here so I have a hard time to find somebody for charing thoughts. But I hope this just stopped.

Thank you all for your welcome. It´s great to 'hear' people that share the same interests and can actually understand what I'm talking about. My friends like my quilts and are always looking forward to see and maybe get a new piece, but when I'm talking about batting or binding I sometimes feel like I'm talking chinese or russian...

I came here because I watched the tutorials on youtube. I`m fascinated by the scalloped edge and so I'm thinking about buying the ruler. Do you have any experience with it? So far I only did straight borders... It would be great to hear from you again.

I live in the Netherlands, near Venlo. So that makes us almost neighbours? Only one hour drive apart.

Neuss ist nur eine Stunde entfernt von hier. Mein Deutsch ist relativ Gut. Wir machen auch manchmal einkaufen in Deutschland. Auch in den Niederlanden gibt is nur wenig quilt-shops. Vielleicht kannst du mir einige Adressen geben in Deutschland?

Welcome from Luxembourg city. Willkommen aus dem Grossherzogtum Luxemburg.

We also have only a few fabric stores here in Luxembourg, as quilting is not that popular here either. But we 're able to order via Internet at the MQCS store. That works really good. Have fun and enjoy the tutorials.

Hier in Luxemburg gibt es auch nur ein paar kleine Quiltshops und quilten ist auch nicht so populär. Aber dafür kann man ja übers Internet alles bei Missouri Quilt Co. bestellen. Es klappt wunderbar. Viel Spass beim Quilten und bei den "tutorials".

Ich übe auch mein Englisch auf diesem Forum.

my family and I do a lot of shopping in Venlo (mostly fish, because it's so good and not too expensive).

meistens bestelle ich Zubehör online. Unter quiltzauberei.de bekommt man sehr viele Stoffe, Lineale, usw. Der Laden ist in Dinslaken. Die Preise sind fair und sie haben gute Versandkosten. Sie liefern auch in die Niederlande. Auch stoffsalat.de hat eine gute Auswahl. Das Geschäft liegt in Havixbeck aber sie senden auch innerhalb Europas.

Ich spreche kein Deutche. I was over there last September for the Oberammergau Passion Play and a walking trip. In a tiny town near Oberammergau I found some Patchwork magazines with quilt patterns. I wanted to bring back some as a souvenir and figured I could look at the pictures. Glad you are here.

I guess you are the second girl from germany. I am too! I'm from Bamberg. I know what you mean. quilting isn't here so popular, so I think it is very hard to find nice fabrics, spacially precuts.
this place and all gils are very lovely. you'll love it here.

Welcome from Kentucky! You may want to check out this site: http://www.quiltguilds.com/other-countries.htm
It shows that there are three registered Quilt Guilds in Germany (I know Germany is a large country so they may not be close enough for you but it's worth a look). They are in Meldorf, Stuttgart & Ramstein.
