    Hello from Lancaster County PA

Is there anyone else out there who is from the Lancaster County area? I'm new to quilting and would love to have a buddy.

There is one Amish woman at work who quilts but other than that, I haven't found many other people. The nearest fabric store is about 15 miles away.. .. .. so, I LOVE that I've found The Missouri Star Quilt Company. My wallet isn't but I am.

    Have a good day,
    Linda

    Hi Linda!
Sorry, not from Lancaster, but from Newport (PA). Lots of PA people never heard of it which I think is crazy. It's between Harrisburg and State College. Just a little town and the closest fabric place to me is about 1/2 hour away.
I do LOVE Lancaster though. Are you going to the show in the middle of March? That is my getaway weekend every year. I usually meet up with anywhere from 3 to 4 others and we make it a gals weekend with checking out the local fabric shops and the quilt show, then sit in the hottub at night. There are no concrete definite plans - we just go here and there when we want so I usually don't meet up with others since I never know where we will be at any certain time. We all deal with living by the clock at home the rest of the year, so we 'let our hair down' on our weekend. FUN!

Our favorite shops are The Hayloft in Morgantown (it's atop a grocery store), Sauders, Burkholders, Zooks, and The Old Country Store. Oh, also, Obie's in Goodville and The Fabric Shack. I even come down on the weekend closest to my birthday in November and spend 1 or 2 nights with a friend or two.

Wish we lived closer - I'd be a buddy to ya. It takes me an hour and a half to get there and then the time goes way too fast and it seems I am on my way home again.

A Longaberger lover it looks like - I have quite a few too. Love your quilts - just checked out your album.

Welcome to the board - love the tutorials and Daily Deals.

    Hugs,

        Hi Linda,
I'm from Chester County. I live about 25 min outside of Lancaster. I go to LC every 2 weeks or so,
do most of my grocery shopping at Shady Maple. I sometimes spend the whole day going to the fabric stores in Lancaster. I love Burkholders. The Hayloft is about 15 mins from my home.
        Welcome! I'm new here too.

I now live closer to Pittsburgh, but I've lived in Carlisle, Harrisburg, and Mechanicsburg. I've spent a lot of time in ETown and some in Lancaster, and I still visit all of those places a couple of times a year. I'm excited to visit some quilt shops next time I'm out that way. Trish, when is the show in March? I'll probably be in Penn State the weekend it's on!

The Lancaster show this year is March 17-20th. It might start on that Wednesday and run through Saturday. It's now held at the Convention Center in the middle of downtown Lancaster. Plus, they still have the 'Renegade' vendors at the hotel beside Dutch Wonderland on Route 30. The Old Country Store has a midnight madness sale on Friday night which really is madness cause there are so many people there I don't go cause I just can't breathe in there - they take up all the oxygen waiting for their fabric to be cut.

If you do go to Penn State - wave as you go by. I'm off the Newport exit if you go up 322. Of course, I'll be in Lancaster but I'll wave back anyways. haha!

Re: Hello from Lancaster County PA

I love Lancaster, PA. Several of my friends and I spent a weekend there a few years ago. We did a lot of site seeing, but I was not a quilter then. Such a shame.
I've been in that area several times. Love the Calico Corners, got a lot of upholstery supplies there and recovered two chairs.

                        Hi Linda

I am from Canada but have been in Lancaster before. Actually visited Intercourse twice!! I attended the big quilt show there and stayed at the hotel across from it. A cazilion venders there didn't even have to leave the hotel. Looks like this year going to Cincinatti quilt show on another bus tour. We are spending 2 days in Lancaster shopping at quilt stores. Oh what fun this will be.

Welcome, grab a coffee. There is lots to see here. Wonderful people!

                        Happy quilting
