    Hello Everyone!!!

New to quilting here. My grandmother was the quilter of the family. Our rock and probably the sweetest, bravest, kindest, caring, most awesome person I will ever in my life have the chance to know. And she made what we call "Nanny quilts". Most kids get excited when they get toys...not us. We wanted Nanny quilts! Made every which way, every color imaginable and the most comfortable soft warm blankets to cuddle with. But sadly last April, after a 20 year battle with cancer, and I mean she put up a FIGHT, she finally went home. So, with every stitch, every cut and every quilt I make, I think of her and I know how proud of me she is. And she probably gets a good laugh every now and then watching me argue with the sewing machine!

It is hard not having her here to help me. The first quilt I made was the hardest. Tears just walking around the store, trying to figure things out.

But I am learning and growing. And the tutorials here are amazing! Jenny, I followed you step by step, and have completed two more quilts! And I am so grateful to have found this place!

    Thank you so much!!!

Ah...I want to be that kind of grandmother! I long to spend time with my little grand daughters and pass on some of my loves to them. What a wonderful life she exemplified and the gift of awesome memories...wow. It is awesome to know she went home, and she would be so proud of you!

Welcome to the forum. I love the tutorials, and honestly, I quilt step by step with them. I'm a real newbie and Jenny has helped me so much in confidence and simple ways of quilting. I love her enthusiasm for quilting, and kindness to people. You'll love being in this group!

            Keep on quilting...and stay warm!

Welcome from North Carolina! So glad you found us. Enjoyed reading about your grandmother. Don't you wish you could ask her just one more thing? I do. I hope my aunt Loris is watching me. She made the quilts in our family and everyone teased her about stealing one each time they when home. Aunt Loris is the one who taught me to crochet too. Again, glad to have you with us. Sam
