My name is Annette and I live in northern Minnesota. I have always been a "crafter" and there are not many that I have not at least tried. Crochet is one of my favorites. Recently, my good friend (and also my new quilting mentor) Gina, who is also a member at this site, helped me complete my first quilting project (an around the block table runner) and I was instantly hooked on quilting! After I made my first table runner I was ready to try my hand at a quilt so I made a twin size four patch quilt. I learned a lot of lessons along the way such as:
1. I really should have paid closer attention in math classes all those years ago. Who'da thunk that a PHD in math would be a prerequisite for quilting?!?!?
2. Straight and accurate cutting and seams really DO matter.
3. Patience, patience, patience! Something I am not good with. Every one I know can attest to the fact that I'm a "will you just get to the point already" kind of person. Quilting has definitely put my patience to the test.
4. Despite all the imperfections (crooked patches, stitching in the ditch that ran a bit wild and left the ditch, and goofy looking mitered corners), the sense of accomplishment is amazing. I love my first quilt!
I've spent some time on the site viewing everyone's working and reading through the posts. I am SO impressed and my compliments to all the quilters that have posted the work they've done. I look forward to meeting everyone.
