    Newbie

HI I'm new. Well not new to quilt tops, LOL, but new to finishing them.

I found this site last week and have really enjoyed watching the youtube videos. Of the 3 quilt shops we had here I found out last week 2 have shut down in the past 5 months so I am out of luck for getting local classes. The other has only 1 beginning quilting class this spring and I will be sitting at my sons 8 year old b-day party when that is happening.

So i"m here to get tips on how to actually finish my quilts. I like the saying that MSQ has used "there are no quilt police" that has helped me get past my fears of finishing.

I completed my baby quilt top this week, it took less than 2 hours round trip. So I'm excited about adding my backing and start quilting. My baby is due in March, so I have time, but really would like to get it done soon. I've got to order a binding tool first. Never done that either.

Hello there! So glad to have you with us. Congrats on the upcoming birth and also on discovering that the quilt police really only exist in small minds!!

Do you know yet if you will have a boy or girl?

Welcome to MSQC. the tutorials are the best. There are two that deal with finishing your quilt.. One on trimming it up and getting it together and a really good one on binding it. Just check them out under tutorials. The binding tool is really great. There is a tutorial for that too.
Congratulations on the new baby. Is this your first? It will be wonderful knowing he/she is cozy in the quilt Mom made for them. What a great heirloom to pass down to a your grandchild when your son or daughter is done with it. There is nothing like snuggling under or wrapped up in a quilt someone made with their own two hands. You feel so loved.
Enjoy the site and the people that are here. They are all wonderful! Hugs, Jan L

Not my first baby. My first will be 8 years old in 2 weeks, so it all still seems new because it's been so long.

I'm having a boy this time as well. So my house will be full of testosterone.

I have to finish my older sons quilt as well, before this baby comes. I have to play fair. No favorites. But a baby quilt is much easier to work with.

Thanks for all the welcomes. I just ordered the binding tool. YAY
