    Hello from Indiana

Hi my name is Bobbie Jo and I am located in a small town in Indiana. I have just discovered quilting and this wonderful site. I love all the videos and can not wait to get the stuff needed to get some quilts going. My goal over the next year is to become a pretty awesome quilter and make a quilt for my 9 nieces & nephews and if I have time a few others for some best friends and some little cousins of mine. I have big dreams lol! I am currently attending college for Medical Assisting. I have three wonderful kids whom I hope to make quilts for also. Big dreamer right. Three kids while being a single parent + college and a ton of quilts in a year. This is going to be a big achievement for me if I can pull it off. Quilting is something I have always wanted to learn and some past medical issues have told me I need to bust a move on learning how and getting it done. I would like to make a quilt for every important person in my life so they have it should something happen. With the good lord on my side I hope that will not be for many many many years. I have decided to join this and all that before buying my supplies because I am sure many of you on here have tips and suggestions on what to buy to get me started and I will also be looking for recommendations on what machine I should buy. Now before this becomes a novel I am going to say goodbye. I am so happy to have found this site and look forward to making new quilts as long as new friends.

Why Hello there!!!! Sounds like you've got lots of energy!
Well, let's see - you need a rotary cutter, a cutting mat, an iron, scissors, threads, oh boy - seam ripper, sewing machine - I just bought a basic one through Walmart when I started and it served me well for a quite a few years - in fact it's going on 16 years of still being in use. I would start with the wonderful pre-cuts ----jelly rolls, charm packs - didn't have those when I started. Watch Jenny's tutorials and she'll give you lots of ideas to try. Start with something small, I say, like a table runner or small lap quilt - that way you won't be too overwhelmed at first and you can see how long it takes to get something like that completed.
Come on here anytime, we like questions and we like to learn from you too!

What if you woke up today and the only things you had were the things you thanked God for yesterday? :icon_hug:quilting trish
