New Gal here - from NW MO - Close enough for a visit!!!

I feel like I've been asleep at the wheel. I just realized this morning where MSQC was located and it is easily within a quick visit distance for me . . . and I could make it back within a couple hours (if I didn't spend too much time buying) . . . my greatest weakness.

I am not new to sewing, but don't consider the 'quilts' that I've made in the past true quilts. I've done several different types of 'covers'. Nothing that will wind up being someone's heirloom for certain. I do have one at a custom quilt shop now and have my fingers crossed that my daughter will cherish it because it was made by me. She tells me she needs 16 quilts - she has six daughters and another on the way . . .

I collect fabric (buy a lot of remnants), do machine embroidery, make totes and bags, work on some quilt tops, and generally mess around a lot. I spend too much time on the computer and not enough time in my sewing room. After the first of the year I'm moving my sewing room to our basically unused family room (quite large - 25x25 sq ft) and I am ecstatic about that. Maybe then I'll start cutting some of those charm packs, Bali pops, and Jelly Rolls and being truly creative instead of just dreaming. I also collect sewing machines (have too many to mention now) and am waiting for Santa to bring me a REAL FEATHERWEIGHT!!! Sugar plums are dancing, I hope.

    Excited to be here.

From the Finger Lakes Region!!!! Lived in Fairport (On the Erie Canal) from 1977 until 1982. Of all the places around the world I have lived, I loved Fairport almost as much as I love home in MO (where I was born and raised).

If Santa does bring you that Featherweight, I for one would love to see a pic.

Hi Sandy, Yes I am from Canandaigua. Fairport is a lovely town. My sister in law lives there and you couldn't pry her away. But I love Canandaigua too, I live in the country just outside of town. Nice to see a fellow Finger Lakes devotee. Do you live near MSQC?
I would give anything to visit the shop! Laura and I want to take a road trip someday and go to Hamilton. Hugs, Jan L

Welcome Sandy. I am from Cameron. I love Mo too. Although 'home' to me is Pleasant Hill, I moved to southern mo (farmington area) for two years and HATED it. (although there are alot of cool state parks down there, such as Elephant rocks, etc.). My husband got transferred here in March and I was estatic to move back up here closer to home and I am fitting in nicely. I do like it here...although it is very windy!! I have never lived outside of Mo...and now I think I never want to live outside RURAL Kc area. (Emphasizing rural because I've lived in Independence and Lee's Summit and I am NOT a city girl. Probably why I hated southern MO. LOL)

If you get to visit the shop, you will enjoy meeting everyone. The whole family is friendly and helpful.
