    Accept "friendship request"

I received an email that a member of this Forum has requested that we become friends. I usually do not click on sites that are part of the body of an email as I prefer to go directly to the site so I know for sure that I am not clicking on a "spam". How do I respond to this request while on this Forum?

Best to go directly to the site.

You may want to look at your preference settings. I used to get emails each time I got a message. I changed that. When I log on to forum, on the top under Notifications, I can see if I have a message or friend request.

Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Every day I try to do one thing that challenges my comfort zone.

Thanks Suzanne. I did go to the notifications and it shows zero notifications.

Do you have the board members name? Send a PM to the person directly and confirm that it is from them.

Their email account may have been hacked. You have to be cautious.

Ask them a question that only they would know. Then you can be sure it is them.

            It was me!
I read your post on the MSQ box you ordered and thought you could use a friend. :-)
Didn’t mean to spook anyone. :-)

You didn't spook me, Devchdm. You were the first one to send me a friend request and I was unaware of this side of the forum. I do not know how to get around in the forum other than in the main part of it. I was simply seeking info on how to respond to a friend request through the forum without going through the email. I get a lot of spam mail and have lost control of my computer by one of those fake microsoft scams. So, thank you for the offer. Yes, I need a quilting friend, so I am happy to have a friend on the forum. Just hope I can remember to stay on top of what is going on in the quilting world. I am looking forward to learning more about how to piece and arrange fabric into a beautiful quilt for someone to enjoy.

The mystery is solved. You'll find a lot of friends here who are willing to help you with your quilting questions.

If you're having problems with your computer, maybe a computer specialist could help. Earlier this year I had problems with my laptop; it turned out to be a Trojan which they found & removed. I now have several programs which I run regularly to clean up any spyware, malware, etc. & have had no further problems. They're all free downloads. One is called CCleaner, which you can download yourself. It removes cookies.

I totally agree with your caution about not clicking links in an unknown email. Very wise! Having said that, I'm glad in this case it truly was a friendly gesture from a fellow forum member. And welcome to the forum!

Thanks, JCY. I do run the scans on my computer at least weekly.
