  • Rant! I’m over MSQC bashing!

Disclaimer: I have no family, friends who work at MSQC.
This is my opinion only .. I’m really disappointed in the posts I’ve seen here and on Facebook slamming MSQC for their recent shipping problems.
During that time, every single page I looked at on the shopping site said something like due to a change we are experiencing longer than normal shipping times .. your order may not arrive before Christmas... something like that. Every. Single. Page. Stated this. And yet people were surprised .. and wringing their hands .. and threatening MSQC if they couldn’t get it figured out they were going somewhere else.
Wow. Just wow. Jenny Doan has given us 10 years of her life .. not just Jenny .. Ron and their adult children who also have children. And lives.
Jenny and Ron are real people .. not just actors you see on your screen. They have bills, car troubles, grocery shopping, family issues, cooking, laundry, house cleaning, etc. Just like every single one of us.
About 7/8 years ago Jenny and Ron came to our local guild meeting .. they were just on the cusp of getting national recognition... she gave an almost 2 hour presentation and we were on the edge of our seats listening, laughing, crying, and laughing .. and just thrilled. And afterwards they loaded up their van to make an overnight drive to get to their next destination. They were putting in the hours most of us would never want. That was normal for them .. when we asked if this was an abnormal situation the answer was no .. they’d been on the road way more than they’d been home.
Did you know that not long after they started filming their very first videos Jenny fell and broke her leg so badly she was confined to bed for almost 8 months??
I do live close enough to visit Hamilton and the MSQC family.. its about an hour highway miles from me. I remember one trip when they were just starting the 1800 reproduction shop ... Ron was so excited he gave us a tour while it was under construction.
And for the past 10 years Jenny has given us free tutorials on quilt making ... she’s freely given of herself and put herself out there on you tube where people are happy to make negative remarks .. sometimes ugly comments. And she still does it for us every week. Every. Single. Week.
I think loyalty means something. I think standing by a company that has always done right means something. I recognize that customers were frustrated .. I just think instead of chiming in .. there should of been more positive comments and helping others to see this was a weird situation.. not the normal for them. I think I’m really disappointed in general society who seem so quick to discard a very loyal friend .. like the Doan family.

Thanks for your post. I completely agree. It seems that they are back to business as we expect. If customers were lost during this glitch, that is sad. Probably a lesson learned by the new CEOs that timing of big changes is key to success of implementation. I ordered during this time frame and got all my stuff, but am sad some were not so fortunate. Thank heaven for loyal customers.

We all have our own opinions and those who were 'bashing' are still here aren't they?

And that's all I have to say about that!!

Re: Rant! I’m over MSQC bashing!

I love your rant and praise of MSQC. You are very fortunate to be able to take a drive there. I wish. It is on my bucket list to visit Hmilton, Perhaps as a large detour if we have to visit DH family in KS.

I ordered during the times that indicated delays and I appreciate that I was given a heads up, and had no expectations of a swift delivery, but TRUST that I would receive it. Typically it takes 10 days to Canada, with customs and all. I ordered during nov-dec, a busy time for delivery companies, and while it took longer, maybe 3 weeks, I was not holding my breath for the fabrics I ordered. I appreciate their forthcoming about the delay.

If you want to talk about bad delivery. I ordered from another popular site in November. When I kept checking on its status, it said on its way. I got the package TWO months later. I was concerned that I would never receive.

Cheers to MSQC for all their great tutorials and for instiilling the love of wuilting in many people. I started quilting less than 3 years ago, and while I took classes at LQS, I referred to Jenny's tutorials for patterns that I could make without too much difficulty. I order the Block magazines as I feel this gives me additional information on the tutorials.

Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Every day I try to do one thing that challenges my comfort zone.

Re: Rant! I’m over MSQC bashing!

I've been thinking the same thing. I've quit looking at those posts that are just pent up frustration. The Boy Scout motto is Be Prepared... that doesn't me just for one moment in time. It's making preparations in advance so you're ready. When you're told that a company is having problems with shipping and a truly valid reason... be prepared to wait.

Lord knows, if it wasn't for the Doan's family. I wouldn't have all of you and I've needed your prayers and support this past week. Kuddos to the Doans and Kuddos to the men and women of the forum.

That was a wonderful tribute to MSQC and I just hope somebody in the Doan family is able to see it, and know that their most loyal customers on the Forum are still behind them 100%. Congratulations Doans, you made it through the big transition!!!

Jenny taught me to quilt. I love her for that! I have never seen a company work so hard to please customers even in the midst of difficulties. Thank you MS!
