Quiltsmart Interfacting? Lone Star Quilts Easy?

Has anyone used this product before to make a Lone Star quilt?

I'm trying out the technique doing a bag they just came out with and plan on doing the Lone Star if I have a good experience with it. It looks deceptively simple to do! The website says this:

How do you make a 58" Lone Star quilt top in 6 - 8 hours?

The Quiltsmart Lone Star uses our "Flip & Stitch" method. You fuse rectangles to the interfacing, flip, stitch on the line, and repeat. This goes very fast for each point, is very accurate - intersections match effortlessly points are perfect, too! Each diamond can be made in about 30 minutes. There are 8 diamonds, so that part takes about 4 hours. Then just add the background pieces. We've taken the "y-seams" out of that, too, by sewing the background to the diamonds before the diamonds are joined. Then, two diamond/background pieces are joined to make a quarter of the quilt. Then the quarters are sewn together, then the halves. Very cool! This same method is also available in a 38" Lone Star (Snuggler Pack) and a 19" Lone Star (Bitty Broken Lone Star Snuggler Pack makes 4 stars or one large "broken" star).

That is fantastic. I think even I could do that.

That sounds like something I would like to try. Let us know the nitty gritty after you're done and hopefully show us a picture of your project. Good Luck.....Barb

Yeah I asked them which product would be good to try out first and they recommended the Mondo Bag so that is what I've ordered. If it is that easy I see several Lone Star quilts in my future.

No it just shows the technique on how to use the interfacing. You have to purchase the patterns and interfacing from the company to get a full pattern.

Mia, after watching what they do show, I'd venture to say you continue that way and then go back and fold and sew on the other lines to join the rows together. Does that make sense?

That is exactly what happens Sandy. This is just like the paper-piecing technique I used on my lone star block I made a few weeks ago. It's in my current projects album if you want to look at it.

One recommendation: Get in the habit of always trimming your excess fabric in the seams. The bulk makes it more difficult to match up the seams in the next step. Also, the smaller the diamonds, the worse that excess bulk becomes!

                    Have fun!

Just came upon the orginal posting. I purchased this pattern yesterday because this quit was on the wall of a local shop. Fell totally in love with it. I missed the class the shop had on this quilt but, was told to come by any time I had any questions.
Why oh why do I do this to myself????????????
