    For long arm quilters

    Hi
I don't know if anyone else has tried this but a friend told me about a gadget for long arm quilters called Red Snappers. They come with a rubber tube that slides into a channel you sew into your leaders. The other rubber part snaps over this, with the fabric in between. They are a little pricey, $60 for the set, but I can load my long arm in less than 10 minutes with them. The best part is NO pins!! I have stabbed myself way too many times & had to make some fast moves to keep from dripping blood all over my quilt..
Anyway, if you want to see how it works just search Red Snapper on You Tube.
May the road rise up to meet you...
May the wind be always at your back...
May you be in Heaven a half hour before the Devil knows you're dead...

I have been watching the videos, but didn't know anyone who used them. Sounds like you like them? I wasn't sure if they would be as easy as they looked. Also looked at some videos of some that used magnets, but those looked like you needed 2 people to use.

I hate pinning and I always stick myself.

I need to check that out! I also seem to stick my self with the pins as well! Sounds almost too good to be true!!

I got my set a year ago & yes I do love them. They were a little stiff to squeeze on the first time but that got easier each time after. There is some prep work cuz you have to sew the channel in the leaders but that's only once.
I also use Velcro on my leaders. The side that goes on the rail is sticky & the other side I sewed to the leaders opposite the channel for the red snapper..
I think it holds the leader on better & they don't slip back & forth.

I saw these at the Quilting Expo this fall and they are awesome! They come if various links and a quilting company in Warrensburg carries them all. The leaders have to have a inch wide hem ( 2" turned under) for them to work. I am making new leaders and will do these casings, then I plan to buy these handy things! A little pricey perhaps, but oh, so handy and the time it will save will add up.....eventually!

I also have them and love them. It makes it so much faster to load a quilt.

My long arm quilter friend LOVES them... they do make short work of loading quilts... I will say though that she said at first they are really stiff and difficult to snap on,, they do soften over time...

I've never seen these in action, but I'm intriqued. How to they compare to using zippers, which is what we use? We pin to the zippers (vs pinning to the leaders), and if we need to switch quilts we're working on for what ever reason, when we put the zippers/quilt back on, it's in proper position. Would it be the same with these clamps? I'm always on the lookout for newer gadgets to make quilting life easier.

These come off even faster than they go on. I don't do professional quilting, which it sounds like you do so I don't know how well it would work for you. But I will say that I think they are the neatest thing since sliced bread. I REALLY hate to pin onto the leaders, I always managed to jab myself. You might want to Do a search on you tube to see the demo, sorry I don't know how to attach a link here. Then you could judge for yourself if it would work for you. Not trying to talk anyone into anything here, just trying to pass on something I found that works well for me :-)
