Sit-Down Long Arm-----Perfect for Me

I am new here and I am LOVING this site, the YouTube Channel, all of it. I really like Jenny!

Anyway----do any of you have the sit-down longarm?

I have chronic back pain and I dont own a quilter anymore.

I bought a wooden GMQ Pro from Grace Co a few years ago. Used it twice. The machine was basically a sewing machine made by Juki. I did not like it. It was HARD to maneuver. Thank the good Lord I got back what I paid for it.

But here is my problem: I love to sew, I love to make quilts (Im not that good, Ive made a few) but cannot afford to pay a long arm quilter everytime I make one.
And I have NO room for another big quilting machine like HandiQuilter or Gammill....not to mention the cost.
Anyway....Id like the sit down long arm quilter. HandiQuilter makes one.
It would be perfect for me. I could quilt placemats, table runners, or a king size quilt. I would just have to pin baste, but thats OK.

Whats your thoughts?

you got me looking at the HQ sweet 16 sit down. I just watched the video.Im very interested in that but does anyone know if the templates she uses can be used on a regular sewing machine

I bought an Empress Sit Down Long Arm from a Tin Lizzie dealer. I bought it back in April but since I work at a greenhouse, did not have to time to play with it much over the summer. I'm having a little problem with the tension but I think I'm getting it licked. I really enjoy piecing and designing the quilts. My favorite is hand quilting but that takes forever. I tried doing free motion quilting with my Viking Rose but it didn't work all that well. . . . so at the show in Lancaster in the spring, I found this sit down machine and called hubby to ask if I could use his charge to purchase it. I'm thinking that I should have done some shopping around before I jumped on this one but I did it and I'll figure it out. I don't have the space for a huge machine and this takes up enough room.

It's a little tricky to move the quilt around but it's better than with a regular sewing machine.

I've been looking at the HQ Sweet 16 on and off. All the reviews I've seen on it are decent.

I'm totally in love with the Babylock Tiara. I would love a regular longarm, but right now I don't have the space nor the money.

personally I am determined to learn to stipple with my janome. I do a lot a denim quilts right now and I quilt as I go, or, quilt in between the rows. I am not a big fan of the over all long arm quilt as I think the designs take away from the quilt themselves and you end up seeing the talent of the quilting machine not the quilter... like, you cant see the forest for the trees, well you cant see the pattern and material for the thread...

just my thoughts. I am old fashion I guess and I appreciate the hard work of the quilter, not the machine.

I love the concept of the sweet 16 / babylock tiara. Not taking up a lot of space is a plus for these machines. If I could afford it, I would purchase the sweet 16. The babylock Tiara is not available here in Aus. Not sure what the prices are like over there for the sweet 16 at the moment, but they are about $8000 here.
