sulky thread

I saw that sulky thread was on sale buy 2 get 1 free at joann's and was thinking about trying it... have watched tutorials and they said that it was really nice to hand quilt with since it's really smooth ! I went to joann's and the clerk told me that she always thought that it was just embroidery thread.... well, I saw that they did have some sulky embroidery thread but I know the clerk was incorrect !I usually use coats and clark or gutterman thread for quilting. Anyone have any input on sulky thread ? Is it worth $5 or $6 per spool ( I keep thinking that its something like 600 ir 800 yrds) This is for hand quilting !!!! Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I really love the Gutterman. You need to make sure that you are using 100% cotton thread no matter what brand you are using...also C&C has gone down in quality in the past few years...I wouldn't use them....but I know a lot of people love them.

i have some sulky, it is okay... i use it for the decorative stitches. has nice gloss to it.

I use sulky to do machine embroidery. I guess you could use it for quilting but it's not as strong as quilting thread and may break while your quilting with it. I use Gutterman polyester and I think it's a great thread. I quite using Coats and Clark several years ago it seemed to shread alot in my machine.

Coats and Clark i buy at wal-mart the big spools,i keep getting these little knots in the middle of the spool.That ticks me off big time.
