I hate to sound so stupid, but i LOVE that concept of SnW and have a few turnovers..I watched Jenny about 3 times and here is my dilema.. because one of the fabrics in the 1st step of sewing 2 turnovers sewn together (forming the pyrimid) appears to be solid... I'm questioning whether we sew 2 triangles from the Pack... or is one of them from the background color... i realize the 3X8 is background,,, but am having trouble wrapping my mind around the 1st part.... I LOVE this quilt and feel it would be a super way to use up some of my stash of backgrounds... thanks for any help.. and sorry to be "beating a dead horse"!!!!
GrammaBabs
GrammaBabs, you are certainly NOT beating a dead horse! I just watched that video, and I am no expert by any means, but I think the one fabric in the 1st step is the background fabric and the other is from your turnover pack. I just really studied Jenny's pieces and really looked at the finished block that's right there too. I love that block! Good luck and have fun with it and I can't wait to see your quilt!
Stack and Whack quilt - where you take one fabric and cut 8 slices exactly at the same point on the fabric and turns the pieces into a kalidelscope block.
Hugs,
Mimi...I didn't know what SnW was either. It sounds like something I should keep away from....like maybe I could lose a finger whacking something...LOL
I watched the tut and to answer your question the 3x8 and the one side of the pyramid is the background fabric. It is the colored triangles that make the design. Hope this helps.
Thank you all so much!! I just had my cereal (breakfast) with all the eye candy of items you have posted.. Such talent...
Sorry about the "letter words"... i spend way too much time at this web stuff and have tons of correspondance and forms etc... have forgotten the "caps" and proper stuff,,, so bear with me... LOL
Mimi.... i was thinking that ONE of the "turnover" in the beginning pyrimid was a background fabric!.... the more i looked the more i thought so, but Jenny says'... i'm pretty sure... "Take 2 turnovers and stitch them together".... so along with the 3x8 STRIPS, we need to cut a bunch of turnovers as well of the background color... I guess i'm too literal... i should have seen that from the clip... thank you all so much...
Now i'm off for my Monday quilt group... we are 5 ladies meeting at a wonderful friends house EVERY monday to just sew and sew and sew.... her whole downstairs is quilting.... design wall, long arm,and at least 4 stations for sewing.. 3 machines she supplies , (I have one of my own there.. i have a tendency to "stitch fast and long", so i don't like to wear her's out... heheh
Thank you ladies once again... this will be my next project... hugs B
GrammaBabs, sounds like a great way to spend a Monday, what a great setup your friend has!!!
I would be interested to know how your blocks turn out. I have tried it, but found my blocks came out not so square (maybe my sewing, iron pressing or both or .... ) anyways please let us know how you go
