    throw size Ingrid's Garden

When doing a throw size Ingrid's Garden quilt with one layer cake - how many half hexagons do you put across and how many down? I have the pattern but do not want to do the queen size with two layer cakes.

Please advise as to how to put together the Ingrid's Garden with one layer cake for a throw size.

    Thank you much.

My guess would be 6x7 .....if you have 42 in the layer cake!

I believe this is the quilt shown in queen size - if I do 6x7 will the look remain the same only smaller?

You could cut your layer cake into charm size 5" squares and then make it and would look very close only smaller.

I'm going to do the same thing. I'm going to replace the layer cakes with charm packs, which will make a nice throw size and give me the same effect. If you've already bought the layer cake, you can turn it in to charm packs by cutting it down as the previous poster suggests.
