C.J., I made the round potholders from this website ..and Sew On: How to make my Pot Holders and I thought they were too big and bulky. So I took the binding off and laid my hand on the potholder and drew what I thought would be a good size. Oblong seemed to work better than a circle. I think I hand-basted or pinned it to see if it was going to work. Then cut it, stitched it and put on the binding again. Sorry that I don't have better directions, but it was just a "figure it out as I went" situation.
