Good morning friends. It is a beautiful sunny start to the day today. It is still pretty cold out.

I had a quiet day yesterday. I did finish the hand quilting on the butterfly quilt and today I will trim it up and get the binding on it. My squirrel brain was having a hard time yesterday but I ended up making a quilt top for VQ with a panel that Bonnie had. I added borders to make it the right size. Now we will have another top to hand quilt. So that is about all I did.

Tomorrow is Guild and Les has to work so it will be a good day for me to be out and about. I will also get some groceries while I am out.

So that it is for today friends. Wishing each and every one of you a grand day.

Good Morning, Everyone ~ DS#2 will be turning in the keys to his apt. this a.m. & hopes to be on the road in the rental truck by 9 a.m. He has 2-3 days of driving ahead of him -- down I-5 from Seattle area to Portland, east on the Columbia River gorge fwy., down to Ogden, UT & across WY to CO. I know he's weary from hauling his stuff out to the rental truck & loading it. His helpers didn't show up Sat., so he had to do everything alone. Yest. he was doing final cleaning. I'm looking forward to having him <1hr. away. Praying he can find a job soon.

Yest. p.m. I added the borders to the mini quilt & cut & pressed the backing. I need to get out the roll of batting & cut what I need, then I'll be able to sandwich these 2 minis.

Today will be the usual laundry. The lawn service owner is coming this afternoon to give me an estimate of removing 3 flower beds. At $44./man hour, I know it will be costly, but I just can't keep up with all the yard work anymore. I wish I knew someone who could take all the perennials. I hate to throw them away. They've given me much pleasure over the past 30-40 yrs.

Time to get on with my day.

Joy, prayers for your son that he has a safe trip home. Hopefully he takes lots of breaks along the way. As for your perennials, can you advertise in your local paper?

Good morning,
It makes me happy to see the sun again, even if it's still cold.

Joy - wishing safe travels for your son, and that he finds employment. As for your perennials, I wish I was closer. Is there a gardening club in your area? I know there are groups here and they split and give them away? Maybe there are some avid gardeners, or a nursery nearby that might know of someone willing to remove them for free. It might reduce some of the cost. A thought -- a sign on your front lawn "Free perennials".

Well our plans yesterday changed. We drove to a revitalized area in an older part of town to go shopping, so DH could use gift certificate. Needless to say, they didn't plan for cars or parking. We drove around about 15 mins, and decided to head to the sailing club for brunch. The dock areas are still frozen and still too much snow in the dock yard to access. After we came home, I went to see my mom to show her my Canadiana quilt. When I came home, I finished making another 8 waffle weave tea towels. I packaged them for the xmas sale. I must have close to 3 dozen.

Today, I need to take care of a multiple of minor things that I have been putting aside for weeks, so I can sew & quilt. I also need to book a hair appt with a new hairdresser. Mine is no longer at the salon, and I've noticed that my last few cuts were not even. She left me a message where she has gone, but they are much more expensive. Time for a change, and a fresh cut for spring.

Terry - it's unfortunate that your certificate was scammed. I'd look into that.

This is my plan for today, but I'm like a squirrel at times and easily distracted. Oh yes, I need to put away my 2 large deer, part of winter decor. They are over 2-3' tall.

Enjoy your day.

Joy, I wish I wwere closer to help you in the garden. I know you will miss the perenials. They take a lot of nurturing to get them to the stage yours probably are at. Perhaps you could place an add and trade some of them for yard work. Someone like me would be interested in that exchange. And it would be fun to have a helper in your yard.

Monday gives us all a new start, great.
I think we will go to our silver sneakers exercise class today, I have been missing the gym since my eye surgery, not quite ready for zumba but perhaps next week.
I finished a quilt top yesterday, starched the backing and will get it ironed and sew the two sections together, maybe even get it sandwiched today.
I think getting a local garden club to dig Joy's perennials would be a win-win, hope she can find someone so they don't just get discarded and can bring beauty in a new place.

Good Morning All,

Kids are gone, whew! I'm worn out! It's been a whiny Monday, and I don't do whiny! They'll be back for dinner, but they'll be their parents whiny problem then.

I think we're going to have steaks for the grown ups and hamburgers for the kids. Mike can grill! I'll take care of salad and baked potatoes or tater tots for the kids.

Gracie's quilt is folded and ready to go to the post office. I finished one tea towel, three more to do.

Best get started on the errands necessary to have dinner tonight. There are things I've been thinking about, but now that it's time to go, I don't remember what they are!

Prayers for those in need and prayers of thanksgiving for all of our many blessings.

We had visitors last night! We are at a state park near Abilene TX and as we were getting backed in and set up four deer walked past. Not concerned about us at all. Actually got rather close.
We are headed for Lake Texoma on the border of OK and TX above Dallas. Hopefully while we are there I can have a spa day. My hair is looking like it could audition for the musical HAIR. Remember that?
I think the next thing I sew is going to be a new travel bag for me. My duffel is just to little for more than overnight.
Hope everyone has a wonderful, beautiful, stress free day.

Back again ~ Just got word that my SIL fell again! She had been to breakfast in the dining room in the wheel chair & was back in her room in her lift recliner. The next time the caregiver checked on her, she found her on the floor. She's complaining of left leg pain. Hospice has ordered a portable x-ray. My poor niece has been so stressed out with everything. Strange, but the assisted living rooms have no call bell! My niece is going to get her one, maybe a hand bell, so she can ring when she needs something.

The 2nd load of laundry is in the dryer. I hope to get more sewing done later today. I'm itching to FMQ. It's been 2 mos. since I quilted. I'll need to give the LA a good cleaning & oiling before I start & wax the table surface.

Joy, I hate to hear about your SIL, her poor daughter! That's a lot to bear by yourself.

I hope your son has an uneventful trip to his new home. Moving is hard work!

The apple juice sprang a slow leak in the pantry. What a mess! It's a good thing there's tile in there. The kitchen floor has been mopped twice and it still feels a little sticky, so I guess the steamer will be coming out shortly.

Gracie's quilt is on the way, should be there Wednesday. Yippee! She'll have to catch up with her great grandma to get it! A little sneaky dig to get the family to take time to go see Aunt Betty Jean!

I need to strip my bed, but I think I'll wait one more day, and go start on the salad stuff for dinner after I mop 'the other end' of the kitchen again.

Good morning afternoon All,

A bit overcast and rainy around here. Forecast is calling for rain all week, now that’s the Oregon I know and love!

Still working on finishing up the project from the class I took Saturday. A little more cutting to do then it’s design wall time. I really need to put it away and get busy on ss. Projects. Maybe I’ll switch them out today.

Good afternoon all. Another trip to Social Security office this morning. It was very frustrating sitting there for over 45 minutes while not one number was called. It seems they were all in a meeting . They didn't start calling #'s until 9:45. We finally got out of there at about 11. So Part B is in the works and we will apply for Part D in a couple days and then see about supplemental plans. Finally got all the paperwork for dh's pension settled. They said he needed to give them 3 months to allow for everything to be processed and that he would get his packet to fill out in January. January came and went. Called Feb. 1. Oh, you should receive it within a couple weeks. February came and went still with no packet. Called March 1. Oh, they said, we are pretty backed up, you should get it in a couple weeks. Well, since his official retirement date is April 1 and he gave them notice in December, he was pretty annoyed. He got his retirement specialist where he works involved and she finally got them to send him the packet, we sent it back and pension now won't start until May 1. Ugh. This retirement business is hard work. But he is beginning to get into the swing of "retirement". He is technically on vacation until April 1 and then he is officially retired.

I got to spend some time in my sewing room after we got home. That is after we ran to the store for some coleslaw to have with our pulled chicken tonight. Then we were just sitting down to have lunch when I got a text that my replacement bp meds were ready to be picked up.(my current one is on a recall list) So out I go again to get the new meds plus some Vitamin D since my PA was a bit concerned that my bloodwork came back with those levels pretty low. So until the weather starts providing us with some good outside time days, I'll will take some D. After all that, I needed to just have some sew-therapy.

Joy, I hope you can find someone to take your perennials. If I was close, I'd be there. I am always looking to put more of them in my yard. Prayers for a safe trip for your son and also for productive job hunting.

I hope everyone has a nice Monday evening.

Just had to re-register at this site. I know they do this for our safety, but it is inconvenient when I only have a few minutes to check the site.
We've had a cloudy, rainy day. At least it was light rain. Our county and Knox county are in the disaster area from floods.

I spent most of the weekend watching basketball. UT men are in the sweet sixteen by the skin of their teeth. It would be great to see them win it all. UT needs a boost! Their football team is lousy, the women's basketball is worse, and this men's team is a great boost to morale of the fans! We'll see! I have a slight problem since one grandson-in-law is an Iowa grad, and a grandson is a Purdue grad. I don't usually get involved with sports, but this is a special bunch of young men.

I need to get my sewing machine running again. It works fine, just the operator can't get inspired!

Tomorrow my DH will be 85. When did he get so old?!! And Thursday our daughter will be 62. That's even worse! Time flies when you are having fun, so they say1
