    Best Christmas play ever.

Hello, quilty friends! It's been a while, but I've been crazy busy. Hope you've all had a lovely Christmas. As you know, my DH serves as pastor/principal at a Christian school. Last week, the school performed its annual Christmas concert and Nativity play.

In the second scene, a shopkeeper is telling his customer that he is low on inventory because the Magi had come the day before and cleaned him out of stock. 7-year-old shopkeeper says, "I'm sorry sir, but we have no frickin' sense, and before you ask, we're out of myrrh, too." He ratlled off the line so quickly that at first I wasn't sure I heard right, but I looked at my son (who was sitting next to me, and whose daughter was in the chorus), and he starts laughing uncontrollably...

I feel your pain, kid. SOML.

    Happy New Year, dear ones!

    Oh.my.goodness!!

My dh and I taught first graders at Sunday School for many years and it was always fun to hear how the kids described the gifts from the wisemen. My favorite (from a pastor's daughter!) was "gold, Frankenstein and furs!"

Thank you. Our Christmas was lovely, with all our families gathered together.

That is too funny. Kids do say the funniest things. I was a shepherd in the nativity play. All was rehearsed, I had no lines as I was about 10 years old. On the day of the actual play, they brought in the animals, lambs, chicken and other small animals. Well, all of a sudden, one of the chicken broke loose and was going to make a run for it. A local photographer was on hand, and I have newsclippings & several snapshots of me jumping up to catch the flying fowl. I screamed but i caught it. The caption in the paper, was Silent Night, not so silent. I still don't believe I did that. I'm a city kid, but had been to my cousins' farms.
Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Oh how I would have loved to be in the audience of both those plays.

I taught 3rd grade in the city of Harrisburg for over 20 years. One day, a number of years ago, a reading specialist came into the room, read a book to them and then wanted them to write the Pledge of Allegiance down from memory. We did write a couple of the big words on the board for them -- indivisible, allegiance, etc. When I said all the big words were written down and they should know the rest of the words, one little boy raised his hand. He said there was one more "big" word. I looked at the board and couldn't find one. He replied, "forwhichitstands". It was so hard not to laugh out loud!!

When my son was learning the 10 commandments...one of the last ones is ' Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's goods'. He would say 'Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's cookies.'
( sometimes, when reciting for the teacher, he'd pause before the last word to try to remember which word to say and then it would come out as 'goodies'.)
