Eastport is the most eastern city in the United States. The city is considered the first place in the United States to receive the rays of the morning sun.

With a total area of 33,215 square miles the state covers nearly as many square miles as the other five New England states combined.

- You may not step out of a plane in flight. (Just in case you didn't know).
- You can be charged a fine in Maine for leaving your Christmas decorations up after January 14.
- Shotguns are required to be taken to church in the event of a Native American attack.

Good thing D B Cooper didn't bail out over Maine. The FBI can't find him for the hijacking but I bet those Maine cops would have gotten him for jumping.

I love Maine! My sister is actually planning on retiring there, and the thought has crossed my mind to do the same.

Hhmm...wonder if I will have to buy a shotgun to go to Church? And Christmas Decorations down by Jan 14th...better just not put any up in case it's too cold to go out and take them down:D

Maine native, here. Have never seen a shotgun in church, thankfully.
