I have a 41 year old pony who was rescued after being starved and severely beaten. I have been feeding him and caring for him for the past 12 years. He's been very wary and hard to make friends with, which is understandable. However, just now, he gave me kisses for his oatmeal cookie treat. My heart melts.

Oh in this week of political upheaval and bad news it is so nice to read this post! People who rescue animals are the best. You did something really good here.

Auntstuff, bless your heart for being so kind and patient and loving to that pony. To extend the saying I have under my signature line here..."to the world you may be one person, but to one pony you may be the world".

whoa, 41 years old. That's pretty old for a pony and your service of 12 years is commendable.

I have had 2, 40 year olds before him. It really isn't that unusual, with good care.

That is so wonderful! Makes my heart happy! I have had horses for over thirty years and I know that feeling when a horse that comes to you shell-shocked from past abuse finally feels safe enough to give you his trust and his heart. It's everything. Kudos to you for saving him and loving him.

It took him 12 years to trust you enough to give you a kiss! He must have had unimaginable treatment. You get extra stars in your crown for that girl.

You should see the ugly scars all over his body that have never really faded.

Thank God for people like you. If I lived closer I'd give your pony a cookie & you a great big hug!
