Opened in the year 705, Koshu Nishiyama Keiunkan is the world's oldest hotel still in existence.

That's 1,313 years of operation, under the supervision of 52 generations of the same family owners.

The inn's founder, Fujiwara Mahito, chose the location in Japan's Yamanishi Prefecture for its therapeutic hot springs, which still bubble to the surface for guests today. The stunning views of Mount Fuji are a bonus.

I would like to spend a night or two there! I wonder what the cost would be.

OH MY - I stayed there in the 70's while on leave. Paid about $30.00 and that included a dip in the outdoor spring, sleeping on tatami matt, and a rock hard pillow. Fish & rice for dinner (Geisha service) and bell boy to carry bags to the room. Expensive at that time since I was only making about $275 a month. Got my walking stick notched climbing Mt Fuji. MEMORIES!
