Good Morning ~ I don't see a daily thread, so I'll start. Don't have much time. Today I'll be making chicken soup for DH. I did the prep for the carrots & celery yest., so that shaves off an hour of the time, but I'll still be in the kitchen all morning.

Yest. I didn't make it to the sewing room. Went groc. shopping in the morning for the chicken, etc.; it also was time to buy salmon again. DH eats this every day for lunch. The salmon was on sale, so I bought 3 large filets. I cut them up into 1 serving sizes & freeze them.

We're still having daily high temps. in the 90's. Last eve. there was thunder & a lot of lightning, but only a few sprinkles of rain. Because of the close lightning, I closed all the windows. Several yrs. ago we had a neighbor whose house caught on fire. The lightning struck a tree limb outside their BR window & traveled along the limb through their open 2nd story window. The fire did a lot of damage. They had to vacate their home for a mo. while repairs & clean-up were done.

No more time now. Have a good day.

Good morning and thank you Joy for starting us off this morning. We have SUNSHINE this morning. WOOHOO!!!

I pretty well finished up cutting up scraps yesterday, well for now at least. 5" squares, 2 1/2 squares, 2 1/2" strips and 1 1/2" strips. That is a lot of cutting. I also went with Bonnie and finished cleaning up her apartment, so that job is done. Still waiting to hear if our trip is on or off. She has another round of chemo this morning.

The van is going back to the garage this morning for the ball joint. I have a dr's appointment this afternoon and work tomorrow. I am going to have to look for something to take with me.

So have a wonderful day everyone and SMILE!!

Morning all,
Joy, I don't like thunder storms! Our house was hit by lightning twice within the hour ( who says lighting doesn't strike twice!!). Started a fire in the dining room wall, burnt the back of the china cabinet, firemen had to open the wall, blew out the microwave, garage door opener, phone, and oven. A day I'll never forget. It was the morning of our son's high school graduation. Thunderstorm, fireman traipsing in all wet, and having a graduation party here for a crowd of people and nothing to cook on. Neighbors heated up the food in their house. It think I aged a number of years that day!

I was waiting for you to start Joy. Thanks. Sounds like summer has begun in Colorado. We are still having great days here, warm but not too hot.
We have been grinding out the cracks in the swimming pool concrete deck (50 yrs old) and filling with patching cement. Then we will have to paint it. My aching back.
While DH filled the cement crack...I started cleaning out a storage closet. I hauled a pickup load to the storage building (the abyss where nothing is ever retrieved) and took the bedding and rolled it and put it on shelves in the sewing room and moved all the old cassettes and vhs tapes to another place and the closet is still packed. I don't know where to move anymore. We have to empty it in order to put the rest of the hardwood floor down.
All I've been able to do is dream about sewing. Maybe I'll get back there eventually. The little consignment shop where I took some Shriners Quilts texted me yesterday all excited. She sold two quilts. Yeah.

Good morning Joy and ladies that follow,

Cloudy morning here today, rain is forecast. It's also Election Day in our province. Enough said.

DH went back to bed, as he only got 2 hours sleep last night. He took a nap in afternoon, and that throws him off. Yesterday, some friends came over and bought some sewing supplies I had. I then took a 4 hr nap, was refreshed for a dinner with girlfriends, and slept usual 7-8 hrs. I made a strawberry-rhubarb pie and a huge batch of baked beans to freeze in portions. I have confirmed Brunch for June birthdays, dads' day, school end for Saturday June 23. It's a challenge rounding up the kids and grandkids. 2 of the boys probably won't make it as they work. July will be even more challenging. 4 kids and DH birthdays.

Massage at noon today, so I don't expect that I will get much done afterwards.

I sent another message re my M* order of May 18th. It is stalled in a US facility since May 31. I have 2 tracking numbers received by email, one is empty and the other shows last activity of May 31. I am confident I will receive before July. Optimistic or stupid? I placed another order this morning of Sakura floral batik that is on sale today only. I added other smaller items. Let's see if this gets attention. I did order 2 y of another floral abric on sale that I had on WishList. It changed to 1yd. I hope this is not a repeat of my previous order. If it comes back as backordered, I will cancel the item.

Have to run. Cheers.

Good morning to all.

Cathy that sounds like a nightmare you wouldn't want to repeat! I don't mind hearing thunder but don't go outside if I can help. DH will sit on the front porch during a storm & it drives me nuts.

Dear sweet puppy Ryker is getting neutered today. I'm hoping it helps the recent barking/growling he does at random dogs. I dread the next two weeks of keeping him calm & making sure he doesn't eat the cone of shame of rip it off & lick. The vet is giving me some pills to help with calming him & I sure hope they help. DH is taking the next ten days off work & I'm throwing all the doggy care onto his shoulders. I'm planning lunch & shopping with a friend, a movie a massage & finishing a quilt.

Since I am totally alone for the first time since Valentine's Day I'm going to work on cleaning & rearranging my quilt cave. I really, really want to curl up in bed & sleep half the day but I know I'll regret it if I do.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Good morning everyone!

Wow, so sew very busy! Ah storms......I love em. I love to stand in the garage or somewhere I'm not out in it and watch......that said.....I've never had lightening strike close to on our home! Wow, what a scary nightmare.....one you can't wake from!

Sunny yesterday and mid 70's......don't get much better! The cottonwoods keep giving off their seeds, so it looks like it's snowing round here. They've changed the forecast from rain all day to sun all day! Like the sound of that. Maybe I'll be able to get out and enjoy it today.

Hugs to all.....hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Good Morning Everyone!

It was grand yesterday, cloudy so it didn't get too hot! We only got dribbles of rain that the morning forecaster promised. We'll see if he has better luck today.

Mike starts his 6 day stretch again today. One day off isn't enough for him to get rested, but he was stir crazy yesterday. I was trying to keep my shopping to just the grocery store for Wed. dinner stuff. After dinner he wanted OUT. lol, His tennis shoes are falling apart. So we went shoe shopping. He didn't find anything, but I found a set of knives for the kitchen that I liked, plus they were 75% off. I liked that even better.

My 'bad' order has shipped today, so I best get busy and get Mel's quilt finished. I worked on it yesterday for a little bit. I decided to blanket stitch around the pinwheels. After that, I'm thinking about putting little stars in the sashing strips.

Best get busy,

Prayers for those in need for healing, strength, wisdom and hope. Prayers of thanksgiving for all of our many blessings.

My son also works crazy days and shifts like Mike. When he gets a day off, he does laundry, grocery, cleans his house and preps his food for a week and catches up on sleep. He can't keep this up forever. I certainly hope he gets positive news from the place he applied for. At least it would be closer to a regular work week. I heard that all Toys R Us in Canada will stay open, as they have been bought by another company. That is good news for us.

I am certain you will get your 'my bad' order before mine.

Enjoy the reprieve in weather.

Light rain again, oh my aching knees and shoulders!

Hoping to hear from my sisters today that plans are set to meet our long lost cousin Frank. Our families were separated over 50 years ago by a feud between my father and his brothers after their father passed away. Frank lives in VA but is in north Jersey for his FIL's funeral so we're trying to take this unexpected opportunity to meet for lunch tomorrow. Too bad he's not closer to where I live we could have met at my house. We've been in contact via emails, snail mail and phone for the past few years but there's nothing like meeting face to face so wish us luck that all goes well.

Good morning everyone. Not too much happening here. Hot, hot, hot is best way to describe weather. I'm staying with a friend, about 40 miles from my house , during the week for the month of June. In between her dr. and dialysis visits, there's not much going on. I brought my sewing machine with me but left the power cord home. (Done this too many times). If she feels up to it today, we're supposed to go through her closet in bedroom. Tomorrow I head home for the weekend while her DS stays over.
While I have projects to work on at home, something tells me I will need to mow the lawn and edge. Also have someone coming over to check the sprinkler system and make modifications for the new flower beds. One of the crepe myrtle trees that landscapers planted is now leaning so still waiting for them to come fix again. This will be about the 5th time they come out. It fell over on the ground several times. Not very happy with this contractor. My rating for them is now at a C minus, approaching a D.
That's enough for today. Hope you have a great day.

Good Morning Monique and Everyone,

It's going to be a humid Midwest scorcher today. I will try to keep the Little Girls in as much as possible. Dottie's breathing is quite labored.

Cathy, what a nightmare having lightning hit your house once much less twice. You are blessed with nice neighbors for sure!

May, good luck! Sometimes these things turn out beautifully and sometimes not.

I gave up trying to sew. It will have to wait until the pups are bit older. Maybe I can make one of Cathy's (also Lenie's) pillow wreaths. I'm sure I have a few Christmas charms that can be used.

All is well in my little corner of Licking, so I'll wish everyone a wonderful Thursday with Hugs.....Barb

I'm back. The chicken soup is done -- 12 qts. It's still too warm to put in the freezer. So glad that is done. It is the biggest cooking job I routinely do for DH. I was thinking this a.m., "the things we do for love." He's often stated I'm the only thing keeping him out of the grave. "Jesus & Joy" keep him going.

It's already 90 deg.; it will be even hotter later this afternoon. I plan to stay inside where it's cool. I hope to get back to the sewing room this afternoon. I have fabric picked out, but not pressed or cut, for backing for the 2nd Bordered 9-P quilt. I have to say, once I got that colorful pieced border on, I now really like this quilt. It was made with left over JR strips from 2 varieties of Fusion.

Well, Thurs. is the day of the week that I run all these various virus scans Computer Specialists installed on my lap top. It takes a while to run all of them. The Defraggler takes the longest (it's a once/mo.). I've been running the CCleaner after every computer use. It's amazing how many cookies get installed in just a short amount of time! Anywhere from 50-150! -- depending on how long I've had the lap top on.

Terry, I sense your frustration with wondering where to store things. I keep thinking I'm going to start going through some of my boxes. I have so many papers in my office that need sorting. I keep putting it off. I'd rather be sewing!

Have a good rest of the day. Try to stay cool. Barb, I don't envy you your Midwest humidity. I grew up in Mich., so I know what it's like back there. I'll take the dryness of Colo. any day. I've lived in 8 states; I like it here the best.

Joy,
I love his phrase. Your husband is very fortunate to have you, and it sounds like you are appreciated. I don't think I could cook the same meals all the time, but it does seem to make it easier to plan ahead.

I ran errands this morning, and oh joy when I got home. I received the package from Connecting Threads (ordered 26/5). I ordered the new book by Ann Hazelwood. First book in a new series. Also got the strip tube ruler and one of Cozy Quilts books with several patterns that I want to make. So I guess I will be stripping. And fabric to make two pillowcases for the xmas quilt.

Massage was great. She worked all the kinks out, but feeling a bit too relaxed to do any work. I'll rest and get going again.

Good afternoon.
