Honeybees stay warm in winter by huddling in hives, consuming honey they've stored and vibrating their wings to create heat.
Layers and layers of bees pack together to form what's called a winter cluster, with the queen bee the most important member of the hive community at its center.
The cluster keeps the queen warm and protected at a comfortable 90 degrees or so through the winter, so she can lay eggs to repopulate the hive in the spring.

Skunks are attracted to beehives, not for the honey but for the bees. They'll scratch around the entrance to the hive at night. When the bees come out to investigate the ruckus, the skunks swat them down and eat them.

Ugh... I am severely allergic to bee stings. If not medicated immediately I could die if I get stung.

And my father was a bee keeper when he was alive. That is how I found out that I am allergic. The hard way.

But I do like honey !
