Good Morning ~ Brrr! The weather is cold again. We had some freezing drizzle & sleet flurries yest. a.m., then things dried up. It started snowing after dark. It looks like at least an inch out on the picnic table. Only 16 deg. this a.m. We're supposed to get another 1-3" today. Nothing like the Midwest has been getting, however.

Yest. DH & I both had haircuts, compliments of me. I did 2 sessions of FMQ. I have basically 1 row left to do. In the eve. I watched a little bit of the Olympics opening ceremonies. What a pyrotechnic extravaganza.

If I didn't have so much fabric already in my stash, I'd be tempted by today's DD. Those colors are beautiful; they almost glow.

Time to get on with my day.

Good morning Joy and all....

I too tried to watch the Olympic opening ceremony. I stayed up until all the athletes walked in.....and I was so tired I went to bed. Sorry I missed the lighting of the flame....I like that part.

DH is working OT, so I went back to bed after he left for work. I was tired and sore. We had 8" of snow. That's what they're telling us, sure looked more than that! 2" are expected today and 4" tomorrow. As an always be said, .....it could be worse. And it has been. Several years ago we over twice what we have this year. I was younger than too! We were all younger then!

Finished machine quilting the donation quilt. Binding is on today's schedule......after more shoveling and meds.

Hope everyone is safe, warm and healthy. Hugs to all!

Good Morning Joy, Anita and all that follow,

We've got fog! It looks like it's set in for a while, too.

I'm sitting still this morning, not because of my back, but because of the variety of birds at the bird feeder today. I had a red headed wood pecker! I'd caught a glimpse of him the other day, but today he was sitting on the rail studying the block of bird food. The Cardinal male that's always here, tried to jump up on the rail with him. That woodpecker wasn't having anything to do with that. The cardinal was reduced to the floor of the patio. We've had some smaller birds, finches and something with a crest that was gray with a white belly. I'll be getting my bird book back out to see if I can find out what it was.

Well, today maybe, I'll finally get to sorting all of the tax stuff I've been finding as I'm going though DH's drawers. I know I'll be having to organize the stuff that's left in there, since right now they all look like junk drawers!

Anita, I don't know how you do it. I'd be going crazy with the weather you've been having. It was 65 this morning when I got up. I'm thinking, I'll be looking for some more skorts for this summer.

Not sure what's in the plans for today. Jim and Morgan bought a freezer at Lowe's last night. It's going to be delivered Friday. So he needs to borrow the coolers. I asked him if he knew where they were, because I don't have a clue, probably the storage building. We can go over there and look. Mike probably knows, I'll ask when he gets up.

My third son (from another mother and father, DS#2's best friend) is back in the hospital, in ICU this time. I worry so about him. He has a rare liver disease and his specialist is in Connecticut, so the care he gets back in Gastonia is not the best. His real mother is being a real tool. calling him in the hospital wanting money. I asked him if he was talking to someone about the stress she's adding to him. He said there was. It's just so hard to be so far away and not being able to do anything to help him out. We'd offered to bring him down with us before we moved. He cried last night saying he wished he had come with us, that Howard and I cared more about him than his real parents. It really broke his heart when Howard passed and he couldn't get down here. Prayers for healing and comfort for Jerrod would be greatly appreciated. I know it's about all I can do for him from here.

Morning....

It is cold here in my area of Vermont. In the past week we have accumulated more than a foot of snow...I have lost count of how many inches....it is too many!

I finished the 5th block of the National Quilters Block Challenge...4 more weeks to go.

I have high hopes for a better job opportunity after interviewing this past week. The present job is hopeless....

I am yearning for spring and winter to be over; so I have a quilt show to get ready for by April and I am also waiting for the Riley Blake challenge to start soon for the Modern Quilt Guild I am participating in!

Good morning everyone. Not bad weatherwise here this morning. We are going to be getting some rain later today and into tomorrow so we are headed out to do our errands in a few minutes. Tonight we have a surprise 60th birthday party for my cousin.

I watched the Olympic Opening Ceremony last night. I loved the way they put the flame. I've got tonight's events set up to record and I'll catch up tomorrow.

Have a good day all. Stay safe and warm.

Morning all,
Looks like the sun is trying to break through but still pretty grey sky out there although the temps are up this week, presently around 41 degrees.

I watched the opening ceremony if the Olympics last night and enjoyed it. I especially like the ice skating and will be tuning in for that.

Katrina, we have numerous bird feeders and I love watching them. We have Downy Woodpeckers at the feeder on a regular basis and occasionally we get the red headed woodpecker, he is a sight to see when he comes. We have numerous cardinals, blue Jays, and titmouse. Some will chase others from the feeder immediately and others will sit on the feeders together. Usually the woodpeckers like to eat on our feeders by themselves.

Need to get up to the sewing room and set up one of my other embroidery machines. It has the in between size hoop I need for a project I need to do. I could do it on a larger hoop but it wastes too much stabilizer.

Well, off to get my morning coffee.

It's snowing steadily now.

Katrina, we used to have bird feeders, too. DH rigged up a way so the squirrels couldn't access them. But as DH's health declined, it got to be too much work. Also, the seeds attracted the mice. During the summer when the Grackles came, they would empty a feeder in a day; sometimes they just flipped the seed out on the ground. Nuts to that nonsense. We see quite a few birds when they come to the water dish. We have two neighbors who have feeders, so the birds aren't going hungry. The birds also frequent our crabapples trees, esp. the blue jays & robins, as well as the squirrels. During migration time, we see the Evening Grosbeaks; they are pretty birds & have a crest. If I have red flowers in the yard, we see humming birds when they come down out of the mts. in Aug.

It's always interesting to watch the rabbits. We have 2 that seem to be in our yard every day. I know at least one of them is living under the shed. I wonder if they will nest under the shed again this year.

Well, time to check the laundry & eat some breakfast.

Dh has gone to set up at a gun show. He loves to trade and talk guns and this may be a great thing. He had to get up at 4am though to get to it. We just live so far from all the towns that sometimes the travel is very significant. I surely do hope he has a ball doing this today.
I'm going to consider going to a quilt guild on Tuesday afternoon. ITs 140 miles round trip so I will just have to see how that feels. I'm not sure I need that drive to obtain the quilt social. We'll see. It may be a blast. Joy seems to have so much fun at her guild that I want to see what its all about.
Got the double wedding ring fmq'd last night and I got most of the strip sets done on the pioneer quilt I've been piecing. My goodness it has a lot of pieces and complicated instructions. I think the instructions are the problem. If I like it, I am sure that I can simplify the creation of this quilt.
suppose to be raining here all day but warm. Its getting late in the day now and I don't see much warmth.
Doing sheets today and I'm going to bind the double wedding ring if it gets a little warmer up in the sewing room.
Have a great weekend.
