From my DS:

Last night at dinner, my 6-year-old asks me innocently, "Dad, do you know what language Sine-optic is?" I asked if he meant as in the Synoptic Gospels, and having confirmed that, began to gently explain that "synoptic" is not a language in itself - it's an English word, if I had to hazard a guess it probably comes from the Greek. At which point he brightened and piped up triumphantly, "That's right! And it means 'seeing together'. I learned that from my study Bible."

KJV children's study Bible: $20. Home-cooked dinner: $25.

Getting sandbagged by your first-grader with a pop quiz on Biblical literacy: priceless. :D

It was well worth the $45 getting sandbagged! At least you know something is clicking!

Wow. Good luck helping him with his homework! I was always really good with English and spelling but I sure never heard of that one!
