Good morning friends. I hope you all had a good Thanksgiving yesterday except for our own Judy. My heart aches for her. She has added her address to her user notes in case anyone wants to send a card.

Anyone headed out shopping for those special deals today. Hubby talked about leaving at midnight last night and head to Syracuse, NY. That didn't happen, thank you. I might look on line for any deals on fabric though. hahaha

Not really much of anything happening today. I will head into town, today they have a no tax day at some of the stores and I need to get more cough syrup. Yes, I am still barking, just can't get that furball up and out for good. I will wait until next week and if I am still barking I will see if I can get in to my Dr.

I started hand quilting around the elephant yesterday so I will get that finished up and bound. Tomorrow night there is community Christmas supper here in our little village so I will be attending that. Sunday is Grey Cup (That is our big football day here in Canada). Hubby hasn't decided yet if he is going to the camp for their last weekend up there.

Anyway, have a great day friends. Enjoy your leftovers today. Sure wish I could share those with you. Don't get trampled if you are headed shopping.

Morning Everyone....We had a nice Thanksgiving with lots of good food. Plenty of leftovers for a few days. I just ate a piece of pumpkin pie for breakfast. Jocelyn's ricotta pumpkin pie never fails.

I have been procrastinating about Christmas for a few months so now I have to get on the ball and figure things out.

I am so sorry to hear about Judy's husband passing. There is never a good time, but during the holidays I think it's harder. My late husband Michael died the end of October and the holidays that year were unbelievably difficult. My prayers go out to her. I will send her a card.

Monique, all of your projects are fabulous. Is the elephant for me?? Can you see me drooling over it?

Our local fabric store is having a Black Friday sale today and tomorrow. Quilters cottons on sale for $2.99 a yard. The regular price is $4.29, which isn't bad to begin with. I know I don't NEED any fabric, but that doesn't mean I don't WANT some.

We will be putting up our Christmas tree today. Jeff is like a kid about Christmas.

Have a wonderful day everyone.....

Yesterday the weather was perfect. The children got to go out in the woods and hike and have that special bond that cousins have. DH was involved with the SILs where he usually just sits and drinks. Since we have retired, his drinking has subsided to a dull roar. I am happy for that. All four of my children showed, one DIL opted out and two of the GC had to go to their mothers house. The prime rib was a hit since everyone will be or had to go to another thanksgiving this weekend. The children seemed to be very happy about "steak".
They all got here by noon and were gone by 5 and the house became quiet again. Oh the ghosts of the holidays.
My sadness was enormous for Judy and I cannot even project how devastating she must feel. I prayed last night and told DH and even he had great sadness. He asked how old he was?
No black Friday shopping for me. I refuse to get caught up in the commercialism of that event. It might be fun...but the idea is so repulsive to me.
I think I might sew today. Maybe I can finish those window coverings. I keep talking about them but they don't seem to get done.
In my cleaning and clearing mode, I had fished out some formals and an old navy uniform (dress whites) and Some other odds and ends...A mrs Santa costume that was worn by Mrs. Santa from Macys 1062-1967. A box of sea shells that I had collected from around the world trip in 1996 and a stack of historic newspapers that I had saved starting with the Kennedy election, up thru all the challenger missions. I gave those to the girls. On DD said I was just wanting to give away all my "crap". Maybe.
The girls helped me put up the bed I hauled down to the little cabin down by the lake DGD age 14 asked if she could join in the "ladies work" instead of helping the boys with the wood.
GD the ballerina was selected to do the lead in promo for the nutcracker ballet in Greenville SC. Its called theres a new mouse on main street. I think its on you tube.

Good morning. I'm posting before noon which is amazing for me.

It was a nice, quiet Thanksgiving for me and DH. We had a great dinner and then went next door to visit with the neighbors, their friends and family. DH got to hold the new baby. His parents are UNC fans so my die hard Duke fan hubby kept whispering "Duke" in little Marvin's ear.

Today we are headed out to the home improvement store for more paint then to the pharmacy to pick up DH's prescriptions. I'm hoping for a low key day.

Today is usually the day I put up the Christmas tree but I think it will be Sunday before I can get around to digging it our from under the house.

I'll be thinking of Judy today and praying for her.

Not going anywhere near the mall or our neighborhood shopping center today!

May everyone have a fun and wonderful day.

Good morning all. We had a wonderful couple of days with my two eldest sons, my sis and bil. All the food was delicious and lots of it went out the door last night in"doggie bags" as everyone left. No black Friday shopping for us. Although we may go to one of the smaller malls for a bit tomorrow.

Today I will put some Christmas decorations up. The first thing that comes out is a small Christmas tree that my grandfather gave to me when I was just a couple years old. Each year it is the first decoration to come out and the last to be put away . I also plan on spending time in my sewing room.

Leftovers for dinner so the day should be an easy, relaxing day.

My heart is aching for Judy today as well as for a co worker of mine whose mom passed away on Wednesday.

I hope everyone has a good day and may we continue to be thankful for the blessings in our lives.

Good Morning ~ Just now getting here. I needed to get an early start on DH's spelt bread. The first loaf is in the oven; the other is in the bread maker. The house smells yummy of baking bread.

There was a good turn-out at the church potluck dinner yest. Lots of good food & conversation. They had carry-out containers for people to take home leftovers. I brought home some mashed potatoes, dressing, a slice of turkey, gravy & 1 pc. of pumpkin pie with topping. I'll have leftovers today.

I finished the binding on my small Christmas quilt (1 - 12" block + border) & sewed the border on another similar block. I hope to get more sewing done today.

I also am avoiding the Black Friday madness. There is nothing I really need.

It's almost 70 deg.! It should warm up a bit more before the day is over. It's been very mild all this week. Good news for those who are traveling.

God bless our dear Judy whose husb. passed away yest. So sad. My mom passed away the day after Thanksgiving. My first DH died just 3 wks. before Christmas. Those first holidays without a loved one are hard.

Well, I'm going to take time to watch Jenny's latest tutorial. Enjoy eating all your leftovers.

Good morning all,
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Whole family was here even though several worked a 12 hour day. Had GS's 2&3 all day....mom didn't want them alone on Thanksgiving while her & their dad worked. They watched Macy's parade and helped with getting the food ready, and table set. GS #1 came with his mom & dad. He & I had a nice conversation while he fried bacon & onions for the green beans. He cooks for Hooters.
Today I've washed & folded several loads of clothes. As soon as I'm done folding the last load I'm going to clean the turkey carcass .
Lots of fat on the bird this year, don't think we'll be able to eat the dressing that fell into the pan for all the fat in it. So soup it will be.
Thinking about putting the tree up. Maybe tomorrow while DH is gone. Last few years putting the tree up has become a private thing for me. Most of the ornaments are mine or came from my family, so I send the time remembering long ago.
Definitely, will work at getting my sewing room cleaned up so I can make another mess..... and have leftovers for supper.
So sorry to hear about Judy's husband. I can't imagine how she felt when she found him. My thoughts and prayers go out to her.
Enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend, watch out for crazed BF shoppers, and hug a loved one. Kathy

I was also so sorry to hear Judy's husband passed. So sad. :-(

I'm trying to do math things today to try to keep my mind busy. Carlie has not been very well the past week and I'm hoping it's just another glitch, we've had them before since she was diagnosed with a degenerative disease two years ago. We were lucky that it then, for the most part went into remission. The last year she's been on the highest dose she can take of pain meds. She stayed in bed with me all last night and she would not move her rear when we woke up this morning. After a few hours I was able to get her to move her rear and when I started to cry she I guess had an adrenalin rush and we were able to get her moving. When these things happen they scare me and break my heart. I wonder sometimes if the pain of waiting is worse than the day you deside to let go.

Good afternoon! We had a lovely day with family yesterday. As part of my in-laws after Thanksgiving tradition, the Christmas tree is put up and the grandchildren place their Christmas ornaments on the tree. My m-i-l buys each child an unique ornament every year then when they get married, she gives them the ornaments at their first married Christmas. Years ago there were few ornaments and lots of help needed. Now the children are old enough to put on their own ornaments - some have already been given theirs from all the years.

After we got back to town last night, we did make a trip to Walmart. By the time we arrived, the crowd had thinned to almost nothing - law enforcement said it had been a quiet night. There was still plenty of things left. We were not after anything major. One of the children had wanted the Lego classic set which the store still had. I was wanting to get little one some footed pjs but the pjs on special were not footed.

Prayers and hugs for those who need them especially Judy.

Have a nice Friday everyone :)

I keep telling myself it's Friday. Somehow my brain was thinking Saturday and I was planning Sunday dinner.

DS#2 had a busy time at Toys R Us yesterday. At least he didn't fall down the stairs again. He's recognized how fast the day goes when you're really busy. He didn't get to put anything together, but maybe he will today. That's his love (except for stickers).

DS#1 has called twice. We're having Thanksgiving aka Family Fun Day at their house tonight. I've baked butternut squash casserole, and the yeast rolls are ready to go in the oven. Dinner will be late (for us) since FIL and brother are both working today.

J will be pleased, the Thanksgiving tree is down, and has changed into a Christmas tree. since Zeke and Esther are still in the 'touch me' age, we picked up packs of foam and felt stickers from Michael's, added some of the silver wooden snowflakes to round off the look. I'm pleased with it and I don't have to worry about the kiddos messing up something special.

Prayers for those in need. This time of year, it's so hard to face loses. Prayers for peace and comfort.
