Good morning. Sunny skies and not a cloud in sight. Could it be day 2 without rain? It looks like another beautiful day today.

I got into my sewing room yesterday and made a wallet for my niece. I used green fabric with scissors on it. Her studio is called Mint Hair Studio. I think she will be happy. Her birthday is this month.

I also did 4 batches of strawberry jam after supper last night. And laundry got done as well. So I guess I did have a productive day after all.

On Thursday Maizyn is supposed to be having her surgery to have her adenoids removed. Just waiting to hear what time. I may be leaving tomorrow sometime.

We have our trip booked this year with our friends. We usually go to the camp but this year we are going to Cooperstown. Baseball Hall of Fame. I wonder if there are any quilt stores around?

I don't know what I will do today.

Happy 4th of July everyone. Be safe and have a wonderful day.

Happy 4th to our American friends. Have a fun and safe day.

Today my new roof is going on. Should be a noisy and interesting day, especially for my dog, Java. I have been dreading this day, because he doesn't do well with change and new people. Will see.

So, I won't be piecing today as that room is under the main roof. Will get back to long arm practice and hiding in the basement with Java.

Below is a photo of two completed blocks for the star quilt. Only 2 more to go.

Have a great day.

Good morning ~ Our skies remain a bit hazy from the western fires. There is a new fire in the mts. of CO. I caught a whiff of smoke in the air yest. Makes for pretty sunrises & sunsets. It was 95 yest. & is supposed to be just as hot today!

Yest. I baked DH's 2 loaves of spelt bread. Yes, the baking warmed up the kitchen, but the swamp cooler keeps the house comfortable. I spent much of the afternoon & early eve. working on the Two-Step quilt. I finished a 39 x 44 small quilt top. I had to watch the video again to figure out Jenny's layout of the blocks. It's very colorful with all the various batiks.

Lots of firecrackers & noise in the neighborhood last night. I know it will be worse tonight. Anything that leaves the ground is illegal, but people do it anyway.

Just one more week till Angela Walters comes. My order from Amazon for the FMQ foot should come between July 7 & 12. Let's hope it's sooner than the 12th.

I don't have a plan for the day. I might strip the bed, air the pillows outside in the sun, & do laundry. I'll definitely do more sewing.

Everyone have a happy & safe 4th.

Wishing Everyone a safe & Happy 4th of July. Dottie is nervous with all the fireworks around us....they went off all night last night and I'm sure they will again tonight.

Yesterday we power washed our patio and around the garage....what an awful job to do in such heat and humidity. It looks so much better, but Jeff is worn to the bone today. It's a good thing he doesn't have to work today.

I have the urge to sew. First I have to make some sense of my sewing room and then I have borders to put on Olive's quilt and get it to the quilter. It feels good to see sewing on the horizon.

Jeff and I are going out for breakfast, so I need to get dressed.

Hugs.....Barb

Morning all,

Nice breezes this morning, have the windows open enjoying the dry air.
No big plans for today will be a lazy day for us.

Monique, I was just in Cooperstown a few weeks ago. I highly recommend Heartworks in Fly Creek, I loved that store. If you don't mind a bit of a drive, in Wyndham there is a quilt shop called The Patchwork Company that has tons of everything. I bought quilt quality flannel there for $5.00 a yard. The store is chock full of fabric. While in Cooperstown if you get a chance have lunch outside at the Otasaga Hotel. It's a beautiful hotel and very relaxing sitting out by the water. Besides the baseball hall of fame it is just a delightful place to walk around.

Hope everyone has a great 4th, be safe !

morning everyone. Today will be quiet, but 42 years ago I had my own celebration. That was the day I had my first baby. Hard to believe he is 42 years old today. Where has the time gone.

Good morning everyone. It's a nice morning here. I've got all the windows open this morning and enjoying my cup of tea. It will be a lazy, relaxing day. Monique, you sure were productive yesterday! I loved Cooperstown but didn't go to any quilt stores while we were there. They are definitely on the itinerary for our next trip up there.

While we were up in Peekskill this weekend my son said he had mistakenly ordered throw pillow covers for his new couch instead of the whole pillow and would I go with him to Joann's in town to see about getting the "insides" as he called them. So we went and man was I surprised! It was set up beautifully! Rows and rows and rows of neatly organized fabric. So much nicer than the JoAnn's by me. Next time we go up I am going to go back and check it out more closely.

Have a fun and safe 4th of July everyone.

Happy 4th! Not sure what's going to happen today. DIL is working today and tomorrow, so DS#1 will have the three kids by himself. We'll probably go pick up some more boxes from the storage. I still haven't found all of my templates, and there are boxes of fabric that are waiting to come to the house. Thank goodness it's climate controlled and sprayed monthly for bugs over there.

We had our first 'visitor' yesterday. DH was coming in the front door and a little brown anole came in with him. You should have seen DS2 and him trying to catch it! Silly little thing was fast! Boy did he like to jump, too. He was finally caught and released back outside. Now maybe I won't have to fuss so much about shutting the doors!

Still working on my hexie quilt. Almost finished adding a row to one long side, 2 more flowers to add and then I'll start on the opposite side.

Have a happy and safe 4th!

Today's our wedding anniversary, so we get the day off and nationwide fireworks for our anniversary, which is really nice of Uncle Sam to do for us ;-)

With our kooky sleep schedules we end up eating celebratory meals at odd times which is why I got lobster for breakfast! That got me so confused afterwards that I felt like it was about 2:30 in the afternoon but it was 9:45 in the morning...which was why the daylilies weren't faded at all...

Yes getting ready for more noise tonight. It's awful here, so much for it being illegal. Remember when (maybe they still do it) at midnight on New Years Eve people when outside with noise makers for about 5 minutes to celebrate?Gee maybe we should start right after Christmas and continue it until the 6th of January. Or how about Halloween is fun so lets start having our kids go out the week before, during and the week after and knock on peoples doors until 11-11:30PM to celebrate. Afterall it's fun, right? Last night it was a lot of those really loud poppers. So a migraine started.

Today besides taking a steady diet of aspirin and potentially shutting all the windows and turning the a/c on because of fireworks I have sewing scheduled. I finished the wall hanging I was working on and put the pom poms on a fold n stitch wreath I did. Also have been working on microwave holders and potato zappers to match for the craft fairs in the fall. My neighbor had new curtains made for her kitchen so I'm taking the excess fabric to make her a set of holders and zappers too.

I also cleaned out part of my sewing room so I can open up my loom. (At the moment it had all kinds of sewing things hanging from it.) I have yarn spun up and I want to weave myself a wool poncho for the Fall. I haven't done one of them in years!!But for right now it's time to run downstairs (or hop, or dance I don't know) for a bagel and cream cheese :-)

Buddy try these for Dottie. It worked for Carlie when she developed a fear of thunderstorms and fireworks. http://dogslovetoo.com/5-hours-of-anxiety-prevention-music-for-dogs-and-pets-fireworks-and-storms-problem-solved/

Lynda, I empathize with you. Had my roof done last year. Awful, awful, awful. It took two weeks. This years suppose to be the house painted (whenever they actually show up) but at least that will be less noisey.

Happy Independence Day! We don't have much planned for the day. As busy as we have been, a day of rest and recovery would be nice. Plus with dh's surgery, he still needs to be resting. This evening we will probably go visit friends for a BBQ and fireworks both what the children do and the city wide on the lake that we can see from a friend's house. Coming home we usually take the back roads to avoid all the traffic from the lake but they are way too muddy with the rains we have had.

Thursday through Saturday, we were kept busy with our friend's flooded basement from the rain which caused a city pond overflowing issue. I have done many loads of laundry trying to save what we could. Thankful to have learned about color catchers as we were able to save her children's keepsake clothes. The tote had gotten wet and there was a red outfit that turned about half the tote pink. There were lots of clothes that we could not save because the smell would not come out even after washing twice. The smell of flood waters is nasty and one I don't care to smell again. My allergies are still flared up.

Dh got approval to start therapy on his shoulder but will not be able to go back to work for at least the next month. In less than two weeks of not being able to do anything is about to drive him nuts so it could be an interesting month.

Have a safe 4th everyone :)

Carlie, 2 weeks for a roof, that sounds terrible. My last roof took a day, but I'veven had one that took 3 days. They started on Thanksgiving day, right before we sat down for lunch.
Charity, that'sounds very kind of you to help your neighbor out. I remember when mom'said house flooded. We had lots of neighbors helping with laundry, plus Proctor &Gamble set up in the Home Depot parking lot and volunteers would wash dry and fold 2 loads of laundry for you per day. I now make sure and buy their products always.
I started my day with a 5k with 3 other friends. Followed with breakfast. After getting home and showering, I will now be hitting the sewing room shortly.

LOL! Sandy! You are such an enabler!! :D:D

Happy 4th of July to you all! Hope you all have a great day for it. The weather here is amazing!! A bit of rain on the weekend but not bad. I spent a lot of time at the park..it's so beautiful there. The weather was amazing. The first day I took Otis and my knee brace and I walked around the entire park! No issues with my knee at all! Yesterday I went alone...sat with a lady who had a cat on a leash, for a bit and that was nice. Then I had a bit of a melancholy moment missing my gardens but otherwise it was nice.

I'm late in here today so off to try and catch up but I might actually have some work to do!! Sending love and hugs to all! xoxo

How much of a roof do you have, or did they just work part days? They've been here since 8:30 and most of the roofs (we have a five level backsplit) are stripped now.

It's a big roof. They started round 7:30 AM and usually stopped around 2 or 3 since it was so hot. The house was built 1900 - 1905 there abouts. Has three porch sections. Also very high peaks. I think three peak sections along with two or three chimmeys (I have to go out and look). The previous time it was roofed the company didn't install the plywood base to nail into (I think that's what it was called) so these guys had to do that too. Also the gutters were worked on. Everyone in the area needed to have their roofs done because of the bad hail storm that came through and damaged all the cars and roofs.

Karen, man oh man, I can't imagine a company starting that project on a Thanksgiving. Boy that's pretty nervy!

Hey, I would have always had a couple house anoles or geckos (anoles are nicer) for pest control if I didn't have cats or dogs. Those little guys will eat any bug or spider that gets in, but my animals would eat them.
