Today I ran my first 5K ever. My running buddy was my 7 year old great niece. My goal was to walk it in under an hour. I finished in 53.05 minutes. Not bad for my first race ever at 65 years old

Wow - great job! Was this Girls on the Run?

this was just a fun run for a local library. Didn't want to get involved with anything serious for my first run, so this was perfect.
By the way, the little one, this was her 21st 5k, and she runs them in 30 minutes, so she was getting a little frustrated with me because I wouldn't run. LOL

my ankles are a little sore, but not too bad, The 7 yr olds mom runs marathons too. She just ran the Boston Marathon this year. My DS's GF also runs marathons. 3.1 miles was far enough for me. You have to have the crazy gene to want to run 26 miles. LOL

You are just fantastic! So impressed (and just a teeny bit envious) you made this start. Keep it up, and know there are some of us who can rejoice vicariously in your accomplishment.

Thanks. I lost about 50 pounds about a year or more ago. This was a 5k, 3.1 miles . Not sure I will continue the races, but definitely will try to keep fit more than I used to
