We have about 10 of our milk goats due to kid this year. Our first babies were born today! A cute pair of doe kids.

Milk chores have returned, and we have about 4 more to come on line next week. Then the fun really begins, as they were all bred on the same day! I had better eat my Wheaties that morning.

Awww, so cute! Do they get little fleece jackets?

I got a seam treatment that I found online graphed out. I added it onto my project. I contacted the Etsy seller about not getting the threads I ordered. She asked me to wait a few more days. :P

Stopped by Jo-Ann's after church to look around with my coupons in hand. I got some 14 count waste canvas, so that was needed.

They are so adorable. My favorite part of growing up on the farm was all of the baby animals. And I miss it dearly.

It is a much calmer night than last night. Our local university basketball team was playing for the regional championship. They won by only 3 points. It was an excellent game as far as the teams being close. The first and second rounds were on Saturday and Sunday, with no games on Monday. This was the first time that our local university has hosted the regional play-offs. Our local university has a large following when it comes to sports. There were people in line at 3pm and the gates didn't open until 5:45pm. The big thing was due to NCAA rules, there is not reserved seating, only general admission which is kind of frustrating that those who have season tickets, can not be given first choice to buy tickets for their usual seats. Many of the season ticket people are older and some have difficulty getting around. So standing in-line for hours is not an option for some of them. Two of the children, the baby and I went to the games this weekend. I put ear plugs in the baby's ears to reduce the noise level which usually doesn't bother him. He went to sleep during the last few minutes of the first half, slept all of half time and a large part of the second half.

As far as quilting, the long-arm quilter has the crib quilt done so I picked it up today. It was just a panel but I thought it was really cute. Hopefully, sometime next week I can get the binding done as this week has filled up quickly.

No. We don't usually blanket the babies. The entanglement issues are a concern.
We built them a straw bale wind break thing. We set two straw bales up against the wall, on edge, and end to end to create a nearly enclosed area for them to snuggle down in the straw. We also have infra red heat lamps if the weather is too chilly. Again, we tend to avoid running those if we can, as they pose a fire danger. They have bellies full of warm milk, nice dry fluffy coats, deep straw bedding, and each other to snuggle with.
We will probably hang the heat lamps when the temps drop to the low 40's over the weekend though.

Wow - that's a bunch of babies to care for! Would love a group shot when they all get there ... if you can corral them up.

I've got some planting to do in the garden tomorrow. Then a dinner with friends.

My daughter bred only one of her milk goats this year. She told the owner of the ram, that if there was no kid then she was charging him for the damage he did to her goat pens. Kathy

They are too cute! So now, what happens to all of these babies? You keep them too and add to your herd?

My one hope is that I could go back and relive my childhood - free as a breeze on the farm with all those little animals to care for.

Yes. These are daughters of Daffy and granddaughters of Dizzy. So who knows what they will end up with!
