Hoot hoot! Are you covered in ice? It hasn't gotten up here to my spot in Iowa yet. I hope everyone is safe.

Man, the vertigo and my old glasses are conspiring to keep me from sewing. I can't dart my eyes from the project to the diagram and back or turn my head quickly without the dizzy feeling. The new glasses come next week, hopefully. I keep doing the anti-vertigo head movements. So far they haven't worked but I know they worked last time so I will keep doing them.

How are things in your nest? Stationarymom, where are you? Give us a hoot! @,@

A little icy here in northeast Missouri but the worst is supposed to start during the night sometime and continue through Monday. I've been prepared since Friday so I'd just like to get it over with! I really don't mind unless we lose power and since we live in the country, we frequently do. Our entire house is electric so that poses some problems but we do have two wood burning fireplaces and I have wood!

Kim, sorry about your eyes. That's not fun. Hope the new glasses help. Maybe the ice won't get as far north in Iowa!

No sewing fir me today - just tried to start organizing! It's a hateful chore but I refuse to start another project until I get it done! Hope everyone is warm and safe!

I've been thinking about all of you in the path of that ice. The weather channel has it covering a wide swath across the country. I know what it's like to have a total electric home and no power. Happens a lot here when a hurricane brings down the power poles. But when it happens with such a low temperature it's got to be rough ... glad you have those fireplaces!

Hope the glasses come very quickly for you, Kim, and helps get rid of that vertigo.

Nothing much here - going on the road again for another week. The town we're going to has a Joann's so I'm sure I'll find something I can use a coupon on. I'm having an NCW made (present for a friend) and will be looking for some multi-colored fabric.

We are about to shift out of our cold pattern. It will be nice to have the hoses unfrozen and have the livestock ease up on scarfing down all of that hay.
We are wood heat here, but electric everything else. I can cook on top of the wood stove if I need to and we have our camping gear.
There are folks who live out here and don't have wood heat and they have seen a huge jump in their electric bill. I can say that cutting and splitting wood isn't the most fun thing, but it certainly keeps the costs under control.

I had to repair our mattress pad. Why would you make that out of material that will only wash a few times? Ugh. Then I made a few examples for sewing class. We are making Jenny's chicken pin cushions. The kids are being introduced to seam allowances and other wonderful things.
Perhaps tomorrow I can get some more sewing projects checked off.

Good Morning: rain here, not much though. I've been watching the movement of the ice storm. Good luck to all. We had total electric house when we lived in CT, but had wood heat - I hated splitting and stacking the wood, but when I saw what others electric bills were, I was happy to do it to keep our bills down. Did finally buy a generator after we were it with a hurricane and then a blizzard 2 weeks later. NO, didn't have it for either of those storms, and YES, we did lose power both time. Brought the generator with us in the move and was the first thing we had hooked up. Hopefully won't need it any time soon, but it's there if we do need it.

Good luck with the dizziness - hope new glasses and the exercises will help. NO fun when you are afraid to move.

Commercialism at it's 'best'. One of my biggest pet peeves. Not necessarily on a mattress pad, but give me a break. If it doesn't wear out though they won't sell as many. So, make it cheap, sell HIGH, but make it so it has to be replaced . . . soon. Money hungry CEOs.

It's rained a bit here, no ice. Hope everyone stays warn and safe at home with plenty to eat for everyone, including animals.

I wrote up yesterday to sneezing and a runny nose so I dosed myself with Dayquil and Nyquil, which are my favorite cold meds. But.... I couldn't find on the label what the dosage is. The cup has two marks so I assumed the smaller mark is for kids and the bigger quantity is for adults. They need better (or bigger and clear) dosage directions. It seems the label is so full of all the cautions and legality now a days.

Friday I drove 2 hours to a class about using the computerized LAQ system. It's called Quilt Path and is used on APQS machines. The LQS close to me had it and I did take their certification class, but the lady who oversees the machines does things in a way that seems off to me. So I found this other class and indeed there is a better way! So now when I quilt at the LQS I will be MUCH better prepared. Yesterday my quilting bee had lunch and we went over what I learned. They were so happy to find 'new & improved' ways of using the system.

Hi forum friends, I guess I could have been a night owl this past week but I was too busy uncovering & covering....uncovering and covering........ I lost track of how many times I woke up during the nights because of my own personal "power surges." Last night I slept a better, thankfully.

Kim, what are anti-vertigo head movements? And do they work with dizziness from sinus pressure?

I don't think it will help with any source of vertigo other than the inner ear crystals.

I will warn you not to eat a big meal before doing it because this can cause horrible motion sickness. The first time I tried it I nearly barfed.
