View Full Version : Friday, one day before HALLOWEEN!!

October 30th, 2015, 08:33 AM

I remember going out for Halloween with the kids when they were small. Oh such fun we had. We would start right after school at my mother-in-law's and then make our way home to treat there. I wish I could set the clocks back some times when the kids were little. I had such fun with the boys. Now my boy has a daughter of his own and gets to share that thrill with her. I remember one year, one of the boys was a computer. I had made it out of box. So cute.

Good morning friends.

I just basically lazed around all day. I was tired most of the day and had a long nap.

I had wanted to sew last night and I did manage to finish 5 rice bags but ran out of rice. Then I got out the little featherweight I got two weeks ago. I used the cord from another machine and she ran, not well, but she ran. The feed dogs seemed to be stuck. Spent two hours oiling and cleaning and FINALLY she ran like a charm. I ran it for a quite a while to get the parts good and oiled. WOOHOO!! Can you tell I am happy?

Today, I am going shopping with Bonnie. I have made a list of fabric I need, actually not quilting fabric for that matter. A few groceries and some Halloween treats are on the list as well.

Have a great day everyone. Happy trick or treating.

Morning folks :)
Finished piecing my quilt top last night, sandwiching will commence today. I also cut out enough pieces to make 9 little minion drawstring bags (Gourmet Quilter...) I may make those before I work on the quilt! I'm trying to get as much time sewing as I can for the next month - that craft sale is coming up!!
Have a great day all :)

Morning Everyone,

I talked to Blondie yesterday and she wanted me to tell everyone Hi and that she's thinking about everyone and praying. I gave her a few names of members who are going through rough times and she will send up extra prayers. She hopes to be back online soon.

I can't put it off any longer, I have to clean house today. We had our first freeze last night. I'm sure our impatiens are gone.

Hoping everyone has a great day as we gear up for the weekend.

Good morning:)

Monique, I remember those days of Halloween too. I made all the kids Halloween costumes for years. I miss that now. I made my granddaughter's last year, but this year they went easy and bought a hooded sweatshirt of a minion.

Today I'm helping a neighbor make tablecloths for her display tables. She does craft shows selling wind chimes and jewelry . After that I'm helping my daughter update her resume and look for jobs. Hopefully I'll get a little sewing in also.

Good morning

Well, sis and I got to sew all day yesterday. We both finished a "Spicy Spiral" table topper. Today I think I will try to find a nice backing material, only takes one yard.

Today, I am taking the boys for their flu shots (nasal type) this morning, then taking them back to school. This afternoon, I will go with Dad to see the respiratory specialist at the hospital for a check up.

Much cooler morning today, kinda feels like quilt weather but who cares the sun is shining and I woke up on the right side of the grass, and if you are reading this so did you so lets all give a thanksgiving tribute and a big SMILE. Have a great day and weekend.

Good morning. I know, I went missing again already! Shame on me! But I did buy a quilt book lately...anyone else see or plan on doing Tula Pinks City Blocks quilt?

Work work work this weekend... Off Monday. I need to start a serious to do list for Christmas... holy moly it's soon. Part of that list is going to have to be CLEAN the house. UGH.... I hate that part. But maybe, just maybe I can squeeze in some of that every morning before work ...and then my day off can be quilty and Christmasy....
have a GREAT day!

Good morning all! Funny thing about houses, they just don't clean themselves! My kitchen counters, in fact all flat surfaces, seem to collect so many things. My kitchen looks decent of I clean the clutter off the counters. So I cleaned them up for, of all people, the BUG MAN! He comes every 2 months so I hate to have the same junk on the counter that long! He's been spraying my house for years, I feel like he's my MIL, you always clean for your MIL's visit!

I sewed one 4 patch yesterday! Who-hoo! I want to make that 4 patch frenzy quilt with that darling fabric that has the houses and bicycles in it ( Dd a few weeks ago) and don't want to lose 1 inch to trim off to make the 4 patches from jelly roll strips. So I tested my math skills, yes, a 2-3/4" strip will give me a 5 inch 4 patch. So that seals the deal, I will be cutting my strips from yardage. My next quilt start, but I have plenty of UFOs I need to finish.

Glad that you are hearing from Blondie! And thank you Monique for starting us all off each morning with our daily post! I love keeping up with friends through that morning post. My late husband had a school friend from grade school and college who did a morning joke that he spread to his friends through an email. He continued to send them to me after my husband passed away. I loved those! Sadly, his mental capacity dwindled and the morning jokes stopped. I miss them! Blondie's cartoons reminded me of those jokes!

Have a great dat, forum friends. Robin ( Mom24) and I are going to meet for breakfast, and I get to meet her darling grandson! I'll take a selfie to share with you!

Good Morning! Hard to believe it's almost the end of Oct. already. Thus far, we've had a beautiful fall. The red maples are peaking & so colorful. We have a lot of yellows in Colorado--not the vibrant colors like back east. Getting some light rain this morning.

I drove to Golden yest. to see my gr. dau. & GGS (2) -- first time I could get there since they moved here from TX 3 wks. ago. They were very fortunate to find a 3 BR house affordable to rent; it really was an answer to prayer! It's older, but very homey with lovely views from the windows. I hadn't seen them for 2 yrs. After GGS went down for his nap, she got out the Brother sewing mach. 2 ladies at their last pastorate gave her before they moved. She wants to learn to sew. We unpackaged it & figured out how to thread it & operate it. She did some practicing on fabric scraps I took along. She wants to learn how to make the quilted hot pads like I gave her a few yrs. ago. So we'll have future lessons on how to use a rotary cutter, cutting fabric, etc.

I hadn't driven in Denver for several yrs., so studied Google Earth & printed out maps before I left to plot my course. I avoided both the a.m. & p.m. rush, so got along ok.

I've done very little sewing this week. I took the Shimmering Triangles class last Sat. I have my design flannel backed table cloth laid out on the floor. I'll work on it as time allows. Another baby shower is coming up at church, so I need to select 3 baby quilts from my stock & get them ready for gifting. I usually wash them first. One boy, 1 girl, & 1 we don't know yet, so that one will have to be gender neutral.

We'll be leaving our porch light off tomorrow eve. We haven't treated the trick-or-treaters for several yrs. Don't forget to turn back your clocks tomorrow eve. before going to bed.

Yes, Halloween can be fun, and just last night, I was reminiscing with my son about the year he was in love with beetlejuice, and I made him the costume....just a few days ago he bought the old movie to watch with his sons, who by the way, are so excited for Halloween! Last night they were peeking and giggling in my cupboards to see what I was giving them for treats this year! they make me laugh! It will be a fun day

Good Morning, All.
Hope your having a good day.

I had to do a little shopping at M* they s morning to get in one last order.
I hope my second one gets here today. It has a surprise gift in it and
free patchwork pens, pretty excited about it, 😱.

I ordered one of the M* aprons, been wanting one a long time, and a star pin.
I picked out fabric for that double wedding ring quilt too. I thought why not order it
while this giveaway is on.
I choose a navy and print, I think
It will be pretty.

Have a blessed day.120263
