Good morning friends. A dark start of my day this morning. I think the day isn't going to be too bad. I need to make a major dump run today as I did not make it yesterday. After the kids left, Les wanted to go for a drive. We stopped at a flea market and an antique store and lunch afterward. I also took my brother the sewing machine cord that he will fix for me.

I also need to get my act together and get the table runner packaged and in the mail this week. And Les and I both need to have blood work done sometime this week. He has procrastinating for 2 years now. MEN!!!!

I am also going back over all those free Craftsy classes and re-watching the ones I really need to see again. More creative uses of the walking foot seems to be "THE ONE" for me.

Have a great day friends. Keep busy and KEEP SMILING!!

Morning Everyone,

Our atomic closed turned itself back a week early and we were late getting up this morning. Here in the US our times goes back next weekend.

We had a good weekend, our second spent at home rather than at the apartments. The break feels really good.

I finished a set of Christmas pillow shams yesterday. They will be our neighbor's gift to his wife. I hope she likes them. They are embroidered and quilted. I'm not sure how much to charge him yet.

I would like to have a slow day but I have mountains of laundry and a trip to the market for a few items. I need to squeeze in a few more Craftsy classes before my pass ends. Wouldn't it be great if they would do this every year!

Jeff's Aunt Kathleen had a major stroke Saturday. Please pray for her if you will. She has been in assisted living in Indiana. I'm pretty sure the assisted living will be a thing of the past if she survives. I don't know her but everyone in the family loves her and remembers her full of life and mischief.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Monday.

Hello Friends- I'm making a cup of tea and some banana bread muffins tonight while watching a movie with the kids. Once they are asleep I'll flip back to my Harry Potter marathon that I always watch the week of Halloween ;-)

Just thought I'd drop by and say "hi" ;-)

Good morning all,

I finally got to spend a few hours in my sewing room yesterday morning. It felt so good to sit down at my machine and know I wouldn't be interrupted for at least 4 hours. I worked on my Batik quilt, finished a baby quilt with pillow and burp cloths to match, vacuumed up ladybugs (ick), and tidied up my sewing cabinet. I have people coming over Thursday to make charity quilt kits so I need to know where everything is.

I got to babysit again last Friday for my grandson. We were going to go to the park but he had a fever so we stayed in. He was extra cuddly which was great, lots of reading time. I truly think this is the start of a better relationship for all of us. They are getting a pretty good deal as I get up at 5:00 and drive 90 minutes to get there. The first time I ironed for two hours and last week I took my sewing machine and worked on a halloween costume and did mending. I love doing it and hope it shows them families are a blessing.

It's a busy week for me, but a good busy. Lunch three days with people I haven't seen or talked to in quite some time. I look forward to catching up with them.

Have a great week!

Morning all:)

Barb, hope Jeff's aunt recovers. Strokes can be awful things:(
Allayne, have a wonderful time at the retreat! Be sure to post pics of your projects.

Back at work today. Got to see the grandkids a lot this weekend. I always enjoy that. DD3 called late Friday night and asked if I could embroider a set of bath towels for her boyfriend's mom. Her birthday was Friday. They were busy and weren't going to see her till Sunday evening. That was all the sewing I got done this weekend.

Morning all :)
Hubby and I went to see my dad and mom yesterday. While we were driving there, my mom called and said that they were actually discharging him within the half hour, so we met them at their house instead of the hospital. My dad ended up staying for seven days in the hospital. It had started as a UTI, which caused swelling in his legs and difficulty breathing. They got that under control, but his blood pressure went haywire, which was making him dizzy every time he sat up or stood. Since he is on Coumadin, they couldn't let him go home as a big fall risk... and on and on. Anyway, he is home now. He looks weak and tired :( My mom has spinal stenosis, so she wouldn't be able to break a fall, as she has her own troubles getting around :( It's so weird to compare them (fully cognitively astute, but frail) to my FIL (physically well, but dementia).
We had a good visit and talked for over 3 hours :) I brought them a microwave bowl potholder, which my mom loved. I'm going to make them some custom, rectangular, versions for the prepackaged meals they get from meals on wheels :) It was nice to just chat about this and that with them. I'm hoping to go back soon.
I did get the top row sewn for my quilt over the weekend; the second row is pinned and ready to sew. There are only six rows (16" high), so I'm hoping to get the top done between today and tomorrow :)
Hope everyone has a wonderful day that involves sewing!!

Good morning all
Having my first coffee and reading your posts. I think this is the best part of my day, its my morning routine and I miss it when it doesn't happen. I have actually turned into kind of a sleepy head. I used to get up so early and now I lounge around til 8 or 9 before I get out of bed, unless I have something specific to do.

Did some bulk cooking on the weekend so meals for most of the week should be good. I really like doing that. We love leftovers and it makes meal prep during the week a breeze. Rosalie (at the Fall Forum Retreat) made a delicious potato soup in the crock pot so I am hoping to try that out later this week. Having fun with fall desserts too. I have made Bob's Pumpkin Dump Cake a few times and lots of apple crisp desserts. This is just the yummiest time of year.

2 doctors appointments today. Last week I met with a chronic pain specialist for my leg. It was quite amazing, that he was able to inject the muscle and I have had a really good response this week. My leg has been numb for almost 10 years and I can now feel it again and also much relief from the pain it caused. I see him again tomorrow for a second injection. He said it could take up to 10 injections before it is fixed. But he also suggested that once my leg is fixed, he will change my diet and discontinue my heart medication which really frightens me so I am going off to see my family doctor today to see how to approach this. I want my leg fixed but having been a nurse I am not a big believer in alternate medicine approaches that don't have lots of recognized scientific proof of success. I don't want him to drop me before he finishes with my leg, if I say that I am not that interested in diet he proposes. Of course, he has a monetary gain by selling me products if I go along. This also adds to my skepticism. So feeling a bit conflicted right now.
Also have another appointment with an internist today in prep for some future surgery.
All in all a busy day happening so hoping to get some sewing in, in between appointments but not sure.

Hoping that everyone is doing alright. Have a great day.

Good Monday morning everyone. I've been up since 3:45. Couldn't get back to sleep. Fred is on an elk hunt and my mind is heavily on him. He had a shot on a bull elk yesterday afternoon and missed it. He is so discouraged and I hurt for his disappointment. He has not been able to hunt in years due to many health issues and finally put in for an elk tag and was drawn. Today is another day (day 4 of the hunt) and I find myself praying that he'll get one. It would be such a triumph for him. As for me, I've been busy in my sewing room, completed the front for a Christmas wall hanging, made 4 ornaments to send to M* for the Ornament Party, went to Joanns for some supplies for an Embroidery Club project coming up on Wednesday night, did some cleaning (more to do today...I don't understand how it gets messy cause it's just me and Snickers (our dog). But I think it's messy cause I'm too busy in my sewing room. LOL Have to gather up the garbage and take the bin up to the road this morning. I have some names to embroider on 6 Christmas stockings for my daughter and her family, then MUST clean my sewing room again! I have fabrics from various projects I've worked on laying in piles on my cutting tables and my sewing table that I need to put away. A little bit of laundry to do. My intent this past weekend was to get the stainless steel backsplash in the kitchen and the counters all cleaned and polished up.....BUT that didn't get done. TODAY, I promise myself. So, with that, I wish you all a wonderful Monday and for the week ahead I wish all of you the fulfillment of all your creative energies. Sew on and Sew on

Good Monday morning! Many things going on this week, it seems. Prayers for those who need them, and travel mercies for those traveling to retreats. Creative juices are flowing getting ready for the holiday season ahead.

After looking at the fabric (since we came home from DH's mom's house), I finally started on Good Night Irene. I'm so excited to be back in my sewing room and using that extension that DH made for me.120041

Best wishes to all... the full moon is coming- watch out!

I'll say that when my mom saw her pain Dr and she had Mom change her diet, it helped. Dr. Tick wasn't pushing a specific program, but I could see where that might make me suspicious. She was also able get Mom off of a lot of her meds. Some of them were actually causing more problems than they were helping. Mom's primary doctor was willing to work with Dr. Tick, especially since he referred her to the pain clinic. Blood work was done and results were monitored before big changes were made.
Mom has made a lot of improvement both physically and mentally. Some of her meds were seriously affecting her cognitive functions. We were afraid she was heading towards dementia like her mother.
I hope this treatment works and that the diet changes are not too weird.

Just back from hubby's Dr. He needs to take another week off....probably 2....maybe more. We are taking it one week at a time. YIKES! I will need to change a few things up around here. I MUST sew and quilt! Christmas is coming and so is that wee babe. I have much to accomplish! I am pretty sure that I am NOT ready for him to retire!

I am a tad late getting here today. I'm calling this day.. interrupt me one more time and I'll just explode.

Got my quilt back from M* that I needed quilted before Christmas.. It's a special gift to a dear friend of DD#2. She took DD to her Chemo session and brought food to the house.

The dogs were extra barky all morning. And wanting to go outside. There is a wild critter behind the tool shed.. Boomer is too little to go hunting.. that critter is 4 times bigger than him, but his attitude would attack an elephant. (7.5 lb pack of "mean") lol

The phone keeps ringing... candidates & telemarketer's...filling up my answering machine tape.. 8 calls in one morning is ridiculous.

SnIL is home and going in and out.. which keeps the dogs barking, too. Arrrrgh, I'll be so glad when everyone goes to work on Wednesday morning.

I'm Off to clean up the kitchen so it will be ready for another meal and the mess that goes with it. (Geesh, I sound grumpy today)
