Carpenter's Square and Log Cabin Blocks

I love, love Jennys tute on the log cabin block and thought that this may be easily adaptable for a carpenter's square. Same principle right?

What are your thoughts and suggestions?

I must have had my head in the sand this morning because I am certain I answered this post - must have not hit the post button. My bad. I looked at the carpenter's square - I wasn't familiar with it - and think the same instructions could be used for it as for the log cabin Jenny shows. I would be so confused with it though - and really think you need to pay strict attention to the layout. It would certainly give me a headache.

We need to see what you come up with!

Re: Carpenter's Square and Log Cabin Blocks

I am almost done with my current project then I am going to tackle this. My dad was a carpenter and helped me raise my son. We lost him just 2 yrs ago. He made sure that the six of us girls never went hungry, had a roof over our head no matter what the cost of him physcially. He always encouraged us to persevere and taught us how to be independent. Not mention helping us all raise our own kids.

In a small way of commemorating him for my son, I thought that I would use this block with team yardage prints and team colors. A way to combine my son's love of football and his grandfather that he misses so much.

A queen size quilt with this block is going to be a huge project with 11 inch blocks. I will monkey around with it and see if I can find a faster way so it won't be so huge.

      I will keep you posted.

Oh no GrammaBabs! Now I am really scared (btw...I changed my user id from googan6282). Perhaps this project idea may be over my head. I am going finish my current project and play with some scraps before I purchase fabric to see just how difficult this is.

Better to find out now before I get into it. Thank you for scaring me...I need perspective.....
