Pet Lovers - Does this bother you, too?

Can anyone explain the new Friskies cat 'toy' treat that has recently been advertised on TV? It's a 'thread' that cats love???? Why would you give cats something that resembles something that could be harmful to their health? Who just had to pay for surgical removal of a needle and thread? I can just see the cats saying - "This looks good . . . "

    Smacking myself in the head.

Haven't seen it. I don't watch tv. I don't feed my cat Friskies junk food either.

I saw it and didn't think one way or the other well, other than thinking boy that looks stupid.

If it's supposed to be a treat, then obviously its digestible, unlike thread or string, and should do no harm. But yeah, its stupid. My cat would try to bury it.

My thinking is that the cats would get to like it and search out threads and wind up ingesting something dangerous.

I guess it would be a good idea to not leave any chicken-flavored strings laying about then?

Agreed. I would never buy that for my pets.

I thought the same thing about it. Plus I hate the commercials! I read a newspaper from England and they were all over their page when they first came out and quite annoying.

I think your forgetting that people that have the time to "fill and refill" a "TOY" with some eatible string you have to peel apart and thread into little holes then sit and enjoy the game with their kitties,,, are more than likely NOT sewers or crafters of any sort...So no worries of any stuff hanging out to hurt them...LOL
Sorry if i offend.. but from my vast experience of living with over 900 homes of people that i interact with a LOT... i think MHO can count...)))))

I have only had dogs for pets but it does seem ridiculous to encourage your cat to chew on string bc 99% of string/thread/yarn is not edible and how are they supposed to know that. Hmmm unless you enjoy frequent trips to the vet. I'd rather spend my money on fabric than pet surgery

Well the string on the toy smells like meat. How is a cat going to mistake yarn for meat?
