Hello Folksies!

We just can't escape the march of time or the days of the week. We can't escape age. floppy boobs or wrinkles. We can try to escape our families by moving but my granny always did saying breeding shows. I always thought that meant something like - you can put lipstick on a pig and it's still a pig. And whenever I think of that, I always think of those people who live up the road in Virginia. They all look so very much alike, there is no denying they've been intermarrying for a few years now. Kinda Deliverance looking. Which makes me think of when I was in college in SC, I took a creative writing class under none other than the Deliverance author himself, Jame Dickey, which makes me think of Johnny Carson because he would arrive in class drunk as a lord straight from filming Carson's show. When I think of Carson, I always remember my other granny who taught me to quilt and crochet. Not that my mind goes around in those predictable circles every time but it does make for some interesting memories to pop up.

I will be carrying Mom to the eye specialist for an unscheduled visit this morning. Yesterday after church while Sis and I were down at her house, we noticed her bad eye is all red on the outer corner. She says she has not been rubbing it. Sigh.

Finding the coffee pot is next on my agenda. I need to really wake up before I hit the road. Another sigh. Wish me luck, I despise driving to the city. It doesn't seem to matter what time of day or year, there is always road work. That is one of the other things we can't seem to escape.

Blessings, happy thoughts and smiles to all.

Good morning. VACATION time. Leaving this morning with Bonnie for my Row by Row road trip and a much needed rest as sleep has been really poor lately. I had a busy weekend and ended it with supper with my brother and his family. Off to finish packing. Have a great week everyone.

Morning all. My brother, who has come up to have a cup of coffee and check in with Mom first thing every morning, is changing jobs next week, and changing his schedule. Normally, I call and say good morning about 8 am then I'm in charge of the "do" list for the rest of the day. He has started the new schedule this am to get used to it, and there were some comments I didn't totally get about "sleeping in". This from a woman who is always awake at 5? So am I not supposed to call in the am now, or later, or what? Someone needs to make sure she is ok. Somebody give me an order I can follow! How did I get into this anyway? See Blondie, this stuff is an epidemic. Hope your trip and day go ok. I'll do a little deep breathing and try to remember just to let it evolve. Sharon

Good morning and Happy Monday. It's only a two-day work week for me. I'm off Wed - Fri. Woo Hoo! I have lots of sewing in my plans.

Of course, I had plans for sewing some this weekend and that didn't happen. Instead I spent the majority of the time with our little Henry as we babysat both Sat and Sun while his mom and dad worked hard getting their new house ready for moving in next Saturday -- which will be another day spent with Henry. :) Of course, that will make our kitty Myrtle (whose name was changed to Myrnle this weekend because that's how Henry says it) a bit put out. She is not so sure about this small human spending so much time here.

Monique, have a wonderful time on your trip. Can't wait to hear all about it. Blondie, it's amazing where our thought processes take us isn't it.

Going to be another hot, humid day here. If you are dealing with some heat or other crazy weather, stay safe.

Ok, off to get ready for this busy day at work. Will try to get as much as possible done today so that tomorrow will not be too crazy.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good Monday morning
Nice and cool right now but going to be hot later. I am hoping that I will meet up with our own Monique and Bonnie tomorrow for a coffee or a little shopping. She will be passing through here on her road trip. I'm not certain what to do today besides collapse. Had a good weekend with the grands but man oh man is that tiring!! Mostly it is getting 3 meals a day on the table and cleaned up. It has been a long time since I have had to think about and do that. With 2 adults in the house you don't think about that so much. It is nice to have the health and time to be with the kids though and I appreciate our time with them.

I think I will probably sew today; I did take my hand sewing (hexies) with me but it is not quite the same. I need to stock up on making more hexies to have in my hand sewing bag. I do the pattern where you glue the hexie to a plastic template.
I am also liking the Samurai Squares quilt I am working on. Mine is black, gray and turquoise is my pop of colour. https://www.google.ca/search?q=samurai+squares+quilt+pattern&biw=960&bih=478&tbm=isch&imgil=j8LQ90baOPIgHM%253A%253Bv1ofyyMacBfynM%253Bh ttps%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.funwithstitches.com%2 5252Fshop%25252Fproduct%25252Fsamurai-squares-quilt-1%25252F&source=iu&pf=m&fir=j8LQ90baOPIgHM%253A%252Cv1ofyyMacBfynM%252C_&usg=__79r3f4z1TpdoSJc6la3JfR6Gxj4%3D&ved=0CDEQyjdqFQoTCITxpYzQ6cYCFQZdHgodM3YCQw&ei=M96sVcSLL4a6ebPsiZgE#imgrc=j8LQ90baOPIgHM%3A&usg=__79r3f4z1TpdoSJc6la3JfR6Gxj4%3D

It is fun to make and works up fairly fast. You can use a jelly roll or yardage. So I got to use one of my beloved jelly rolls.

I hope that everyone is staying cool in this heat wave. Drink lots (of water!!) and eat ice cream. It works. Ask me how I know.

Great Monday everyone, keep that smile on your face.

Morning all! Yes it is Monday and so begins the week of finalizing the painting before the flooring goes in.
Finished painting the hall closet yesterday and taping the trim for the last 3 doors and trim in the hall. Have to paint the trim on the stairs and the back door And I am done!!! Hopefully that will all be done today!! Tomorrow the latest!!

DH came out of his snit last evening like he had been in an alternate universe! All of a sudden he was back to normal!
Not sure what prompted his return to normal but it may have been my failure to provide him meals for the past two evenings!!
Funny how hunger has a way of making a guy pay attention to his attitude!!! He didn't seem to enjoy finding his own food for 36 hours!!! He casually mentioned something about dinner last night about 9pm but I reminded him the kitchen was closed!!!
Better luck today!!! We will see!!!!!

My neighbor who had her house for sale found out yesterday that the sale fell thru so she is back to putting it on the market again. She is so upset! I feel so bad for her. She's now 25 miles away in her new home so I am helping her out with turning the AC on before showings so she doesn't have to keep coming back just for that! It's an easy walk across the property to her house so it it the least I can do for her. It will be a nice break for me!!! Stretch those legs out!! LOL!!

Suppose to be hot with t storms later so I better get moving!!
Hope all have a great Monday..... If that's even possible!!!

Blondie,,, i'm with you,,, I dislike driving anywhere but to "quilt group" on Tuesdays!!!! Blessed to have my "driver" Mr. Bill
It's the 90's here and this year the pool, for me, has lost it's luster... opting for staying home and sewing where it's nice and cool!
Nancy,,, give a "hug" from GrammaBabs to our forum friends... if you meet up with them and tell them GB is content to shop from the puter ..LOL

Morning Blondie and all!

I'm with you on the Monday..................AND driving through construction! Ahhh, well, it seems down here we're in a constant state of it! Up and at 'em (and NO on the busytailed!) coffee is on and ready soon. Got a hopscotch week, then respite for about 4, otherwise we're in the 100's. Time to hunker down and endure the Dog Days. Hope everyone has a great day, Hugs and Blessings to all! :D

Good Morning All,

Tomorrow is the day I'm meeting up with Marilyn and Jean to take quilts to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital. Can't wait to meet the gals for lunch. Tonight is our monthly guild meeting so today will be spent getting everything ready for that. We start with charity sewing at 3:00 and the meeting is at 6:30. Friday I leave for a conference in Steubenville, Ohio so it will be a busy week. I might not get much sewing time in but that's ok, I feel good about everything I got accomplished over the weekend.

Blondie, my mind works like yours but not until I go to bed at night. That's when everything starts stirring and it takes forever to fall asleep. If I can't settle down in 30 minutes I get up and take half an ambien. Good luck on your trip to the city. I will have to wait in construction in several different areas going to St. Louis tomorrow. I have heard from people that a normal hour and 45 minute drive can now take up to three hours. I'm going to get an early start so I don't run late for my date with the girls!

Have a great week!

Morning...We had terrible storms most of the night that had all of us up. The Girls decided that in bed with Mom & Dad was the only place to be, so that means they slept like logs and we got little or no sleep. At one point my phone alerted us to tornado warnings in our area.

I'm heading back to bed for a nap. Wishing everyone a great day.

Hoo boy! Gettin' here late this morning - been up since early, but checkin' in now:)

Seems like everyone is busy today - gonna be a hot one - looking at 92 today, 91 tomorrow. Had a great weekend - my sis in law took FIL again for the weekend - I could get used to this ;) It is an answer to prayer. I'll spare you the details, but it really is a blessing.

I've got a birthday present to whip up before Wednesday, and a 'Christmas in July' yankee swap party gift to get done before Saturday. I'm thinking an embroidered Christmas stocking filled with treats will be fun. I have some great Anita Goodesign patterns for In the Hoop stockings that I haven't tried yet. I'm going to try to finish cutting 'my' quilt this week as well.
I ordered some cute minion fabric (it's all Jean's fault... ;)) to play with and make some gifts and craft fair items. Now I just need to scout out some fairs for the fall and get busy!
Gonna get my second cup and get busy... have a great day all!

Morning all! I got a little sewing in this weekend. Not as much as I would have liked, but enough to keep me from going crazy. I whipped up an embroidered burp cloth last night for my DD1 who just found out she's having a boy! And I mended jeans for the hubby. I do have Thursday and Friday off this week. I have a sewing date with DD3 for Wednsday night and Thursday. Then on Friday I take my MIL to the eye doctor and out to lunch.

Monique, enjoy your trip and hope you get lots of patterns and license plates if you are collecting those!

That could be my shirt!!! :D :D At least during holidays.

I hope your doctor trip went well. I too went to the doctor today for a bad eye - my 6 yr old's. He got a red welt (?) when we were in London a couple of weeks ago (yeah, he definatly rubbed his eye, with London-grubby hands) and while that did go down after a few days, I noticed the other day that he has a small thing inside his lower eyelid still. So we were off to the health centre today and got him a cream that will hopefully help. A nice German doctor, she had a great way with him. :)

Good morning..... Yep... It's Monday....again.... It never fails to show up, does it?

Plans for today..... No matter what I do, I simply cannot make framed coin quilt blocks (Jenny's patter), and have them all be the same size.... So....all 25 or do blocks .....four strips framed by two strips....MUST be squared up. Jenny's were so perfect!

Then, I need to quilt the borders of a quilt called Simply Blue... I need to get it off to my friend in Texas.... She sent me the fabrics... they are shabby chic.....and wanted an accent quilt for the room she has redecorated for her potential caregiver,,, she has MS. I love this quilt,Mobutu it has fought me the whole way.... Know what I mean? I'll be more than happy to see it on its way to Texas.

I've been having a very hard time lately.... Made the mistake of listening to teo of my husband's saved messages on my phone..... He was truly the wind beneath my wings, and without him, I just can't fly anymore.

So.... I have been spendi more time here in my little sewing room, and it seems to help... I sew, watch Netfkix and HuluPlus.....and I feel better. I do simple things, that don't require intricate cutting or planning......and find that the dimple repetiveness of vchsin piecing....remembering to include my tumblers L/E .....I a m finally discovering the soothing, healing power of our craft.... And I thank God for it.... Sometimes I just cry and sew..... It's a wonder I can see what I'm doing..... But I keep going...

So.... Onward Monday!

Good afternoon! The grand kids are here from TX for a month and we've been out getting supplies for their visit. Probably not much sewing going on while they're here, other than finishing the binding on Aiden's Spiderman quilt. Have a good one!

Hugs, Sandy. It doesn't get easier with time.. we just learn to cope better when "memories" crowd in. It's been 12 years and I still miss the evening talks/walks.

Spent the morning doing errands and grocery shopping. I'm tired, but still have supper to get thru. Perhaps the kiddo's will order out?? DD is still weak and tires easily from her Chemo last Tues. Taking longer for her to bounce back this time, tho the news was really good!!

I'm still working on the meandering quilting for GS#3's binding tool quilt. I really want to finish it before starting anything new. But my wanna do list is fuller than my got it done list. And "someone" was asking about how much use you do with an Accuquilt Go.... That makes me wanna dig out mine and see if I can cut out a quilt... "there my mind goes--wandering all over the quilting possibilities." I think Blondie is to blame for this trip....
