How's everyone doing? I made something using a friend's George Foreman-like grill tonight. It was chicken tenderloins. Wow, was that chicken a lot better tasting and juicier than my old methods of baking or frying...I think DH and I may need to get one!

What's up in your neck of the woods? @,@

I've been hanging out inside today other than a run over to the grocery store for food. We have extreme heat and smoke in the air from all the fires. We have the windows closed and fans running. Surprise, I have a headache again today.

I sewed a few stitches today but nothing serious. I mostly just rested.

I have a late late night tomorrow and Monday volunteering at a casino. It's worth the effort, big bucks for our wheelchair basketball organization, but a long and sometimes boring couple nights.

Good morning! I was out with two of my sisters and my niece yesterday to a tappas bar. It was delicious. We just ordered some of this and some of that and shared everything. We had a lot of fun, we don't do this often enough. We're going to try and change that. :)

I'll send a card to May, too. I emailed her a couple of weeks ago because I was worried and then was worried more because she didn't come back to posting here. I really hope she's going to feel better soon.

Kimsophia, I have such a grill and haven't used it in years (and forgot about it). Now that you reminded me, I'm going to get him out again.
Terri, that sounds horrible. I hope the fires stop soon, it would scare me to see the smoke and all. Hope your head gets better soon, too.
Joan, I can picture you sitting in front of the TV yelling at them. My hubby does it every time when he watches soccer. I don't sit there with him (I don't care for soccer games) but he startles me anyway each time he yells at the TV.
Bee, sounds like you had fun playing with your fabrics. I didn't sew a bit yesterday. Finished a NCW Friday night which now is going to my niece. Today will be sewing day. I'm going to sew a bag and then another all black NCW for sister #3. And after that another one for me. Those are really addicting... :D

Have a good night and a wonderful Sunday!

Hoos still up? Finally got a good morning of sewing in yesterday. Got zipper top about 2/3 done.

Out to supper with friends last night.

Slightly cooler, but it is July in the South. At least the storms have calmed down...we had at least one every night for a couple of weeks,

Hope all has a blessed Sunday!

That grill, let me share a tip. if you'll put some boneless porkchops in some Dales sause to sit a few hours and then cook on that grill, you will be surprized at how good they turn out.

Andrea, sounds like you and the girls had a real good time, next tme remember and try a lil sommum for me too.
Yall , do some cool bags on here......Bee

I'm still up. I did a couple of loads of laundry and then started working on mending a pair of shorts with some iron-on patches. The trouble with them in that they come off so I also need to sew around their edges. These are my buddy's work cargo shorts and although I would just toss them out if they were mine, he wants them repaired. But when I sew them, I keep accidentally sewing through one of the many pockets of the cargo shorts...so it has involved a lot of seam ripping and do overs. I think I have the hang of it now, though. One one small patch on the butt is left to do.

I got a little note mailed off to May today. I'm still not clear on whether the a/c is working or not as we didn't have a big test of it today. It was rainy and overcast and didn't get above 76. Tomorrow is forecast to be 88 and very humid so we shall see if it can hack it--otherwise, Hampton Inn, here we come! :D

I love me some Dale's sauce but not sure it is available nationwide. It originated at Dale's restaurant in Birmingham, Al. The restaurant is gone but the sauce lives on.

What did you put on your chicken before doing the Geo Foreman? I have one of those and rarely use it but would like to use it more.

I finally made it home at 1130 last night. I talked to MM for about ten minutes, petted and talked to Yoda, who apparently searched the house high and low for me the two days I was gone!! I only carried my purse into the house last night and left everything in the car so I would not be tempted to roll around in my newly acquired fabric. Can you believe I just crawled out of bed at 1100???? I don't know the last time I slept so long!

We left Sisters at 330 yesterday to beat the rush leaving when it shut down at 4pm and took an alternate route home. I think it was a much nicer drive and certainly prettier, but my sister insists it was much longer (it may have been in mileage, but not in time). We didn't make it to any shops except Fabric Depot on the way home. Prior to that, we stopped and had dinner at a place called Chicago Pizza and not only was the waiter very cute and attentive, the food was fabulous! I will definitely go there again.

After eating, we got to the store about 7pm to find two tour busses from Sisters parked in the lot!!! They were just walking in the store. Now, for those of you who have never been there, this might sound bad. However, I'm pretty sure this store is in an old KMart and you could not even tell there were two busloads of people inside! I bought ten yards of assorted fabrics and half a yard of some cool vinyl. I don't know who my sister walked out with just three pieces of fabric (for a bow tucks bag), but she did. This store carries the same fabrics you would find in any quilt shop, Jenny Beyer, Tula Pink, Riley Blake, etc. For 11 1/2 yards, it came to $94 and I was pleasantly pleased because I got some great stuff I have never seen before.

When we were checking out, my sister asked if they had Tula Pink and they told us where it was. Had I seen it, I would have spent more than I did, oh well. And even though I knew a large section of batiks was on sale for $6.99, I was overcome with all the other stuff that I forgot to even look at that!!! We walked past it on the way out and may have left drool marks on a few of the bolts.

Now I just have to decide if I am going out to the car to get my things today or not.......

Claire, I just salted and peppered both sides. I did flip the pieces as the top of the grill seemed to be browning the stripes onto the chicken a little faster.

I never buy raw chicken as I'm paranoid about germs. Probably I overcook it and make it too dry. But when it is getting grilled on both sides, I'm a lot more confident that the center is cooked. It was the first time that I've eaten chicken that flaked like fish when you cut it on the plate. So I ordered a refurbished one for 38 bucks. The one I used was a refurbished one that I'd bought the buddy whose shorts I'm fixing.

I've never heard of Dale's sauce. Up here in Iowa there's the Hickory Park restaurant sauce, but that's only sold at their restaurant, and Cookie's is the local guy's BBQ sauce in the stores. :)
