Good Morning Folksies

We are supposed to get rain today and wondering how Tx is faring with their recent celebration of the wet stuff. I heard that there could be run offs, etc. I continue to pray for our Texans.

Mom has a dr's appt today.
And tomorrow. The bright side of this is that the Dr's wife is a quilter and saves her expensive mags for me. Oh yeah!

Off to read some here. Have a wonderful day!!!!!!!!!!!!

Started off a beautiful sunny day here, now looking a bit cloudy. Hmm got the washing out but may have to make a mad dash for it if it rains. Been choked with the cold(yes, again) since Sunday but feeling a bit better than I did so time to make soup I think!
Have a fab day all!

I've finally getting my self out of the sewing closet...had a frenzy of ideas and projects to finish. Soon as I get the quilting done, will show off for you.. but for today, I'm just happy to have some time to catch my breath and see how the rest of you are doing.

I did a baddddd...thing!! Ebaying. I got hooked on a couple (or three) items to bid on and kept going back those last minutes to make sure My bid was the highest... and got OUT BID by 2 cents. What was I doing? BOM's from 1998 Joann"s Patch In Time. I have 6 sets and was looking for the rest - July thru Dec. And those sweeties went for $79+....more than the cost when new. So in frustration I went Ebay Shopping and spent that much on various (necessary) goodies. Have to build my stash !!!

We have Indian Summer and I need to get outside to enjoy the final HOT days before the rain, cold and blowing days of Winter begin. NO trip to Texas or Florida for the Winter for me.. DD#2 has to have surgery on her Knee..and will be needing some help for about 7 weeks, before rehab gets her back up and working again. (at least that was the schedule for her first Patella fixation -8 years ago). Her Hubby has to work and since I have the Mother-in-law Suite here, I may as well stick around and help out... Benefits are great!! Surgery date is still undecided, but sees the specialist Oct 30th. (Hows that for a Trick Or Treat?)

Hugs to ya all and hope your day is full of Sunshine ...

Good morning, Quilters! Up and at it early this morning....lots to do today, but all good. May each of you have a wonderful day. Hope your cold gets better, Kilted Quilter. Soup will help. Enjoy the magazines, Blondie. Let us know if you find anything interesting!
Spending a couple days in Maine with a friend and hope to hit a couple of quilt shops on the way. There is great place called Marden's that sells fabric very reasonably. Most of it is good quality, but half the fun is looking and touching it. DH will keep the home fires burning while I play, but he is used to that and is such a great sport about it.
Take care everyone.

Cynthia, funny you mentioned Mardens. I've been one time to the one nearest me (Sanford, ME), and I HATED it! They did have good prices but the atmosphere drove me insane. Maybe it was a bad day and I should give it another try.

Today is laundry day and grocery shopping. Not my 2 favorite things to do. But we gotta eat and wear clothes, so I better get going on it!

Have a great day everyone.

Hi everyone! I know, I know...I've been gone so long I'm no longer in the loop but just don't get on the comPuter as much anymore but the good news is I am quilting more! This makes me very happy! I am also working part time at a quilt store to supplement my unemployment but it is a very stressful place to work. The fabrics are the most beautiful part of the job!! I've only spent about $5.00 in the month and a half I've been working and I've kept my blinders on so I can pay bills!
We have a trip to Kansas City to help out BFs brother for a few days so I am saving a paycheck for my visit to MSQC! Hopefully I can catch up with Ms. Sandy if she's not too busy!
Nice to see you all and hope all is going well in your lives! I must check in more often. Well I'm off to shoot
Ms Blondie an email, I owe her one!

Good morning, everyone!
Blondie, I hope your mom has a positive Dr. appt.
Julie, isn't ebay addictive? I had to stop looking. I used to sell fabric packs and quilt tops there and now I regret so many of the tops I sold! I hope you find the packs you're looking for. Keep looking! Everything eventually shows up.
Cynthia and Martha, I love Marden's! I'll take a road trip there with either one of you if you're going one day! I walk around and touch the fabric and Bonnie who runs the place is so nice. I bring extra fabric left over from quilts cut into squares for them to hand out to the ladies who make Linus Quilts and it makes them so happy. Learn to love it, Martha!

I babysit for 4 preschoolers and a baby this afternoon. Pray for me! We always have a tea party with a set I bought in pieces at Goodwill. Nothing matches but they love pouring their own "tea". Today I have M & M's to have with it so they will enjoy that. No quilting while they're here except maybe some hand sewing on some heart blocks I am in the process of buttonhole stitching. I am always exhausted when they leave! How I ever raised 7 I will never know.

Rain is coming - perfect weather for quilting!

Aloha, six fixteen, the sun's just coming over the mountain, pink and blue with clouds.

Watched the DVD on my cheapy fill-in Singer and test drove it. With just a slight adjustment on the tension...beautiful stitching. I'm going to be able to finish my 25th Floral Swap Block and 2 Q4Ks that are due this week - ship them off. Yeah!

I'm going to be researching finding another repair place on this island that doesn't charge $300 to fix the timing on my Lily 545. If they all price that amount, then I'm going to have to rethink my embroidery ideas. I would hate to think what they charge for those repairs.

Meanwhile the Singer Futura Quartet is in the forerunning, would love the Janome 11000 and Husqvarna Designer Diamond but my budget has to stay under $2500 max for everything. Accessories, hoops, threads, etc. to start up. Wouldn't life be great if there were unlimited funds. Oh yea, I probably wouldn't have to work if I had unlimited funds, I'd just be quilting, making jewelry and crafts for fun. :)

Anyone is under the weather, prayers that you feel better soon.

Have a wonderful day all, I'm stitching .... Ruby

Hi all!

Jan, Emily is so adorable! Thanks for sharing her picture with us!
My Emily is back at school today. Normally that would give me some sewing time today, but my in-laws are arriving this afternoon. I thought I had until Thursday or Friday. Oh well. They'll get this place they way it looks. I do need to go clear a space for them in Emily's bedroom. They take her room and she will sleep in her "House Tent" in our room while they are here. If I don't have everything out of their way they tend to make a mess doing it themselves.

I'll check in with you all later!
Hugs, Cathy

Hi All,

Blondie, I'm happy to report we had 5 1/2 inches of rain here at the ranch! It was lovely, soft, continuous rain. That was over the weekend. Today it's sunny and cooler, only 77 degrees right now. Prayers do work don't they?!

I"m cleaning out the garage, organizing my antique stuff for my booth and trying to make room for a car. Wow, what a job! I'm making headway though. After a clean garage I can allow myself to sew. Once I get started I'm oblivious to everything else!

Saying a prayer for all in need and I thank you again for the prayers for Texas rain.

Hi everyone -
think I'll make a trip outside and bring in some of the summery stuff before the rains hit here again. Was on the list for yesterday, but that got away from me.
Tonight is Senior parent night for soccer. We get called onto the field for recognition. Katie wants us there so that's right where we will be! She's also playing in the JV and V games - we just pray she doesn't injure her knee again everytime she gets out there. It's hard to keep her down.
She is still going pretty strong on joining the Marines. Don't think she'll sign the papers though until she's 18 which is in March. Still waiting for her to come home.
Well, off here for now. Think the car needs some oil and tires checked so want to grab the hubby before he comes inside from some errands.
Hope you all have a good evening.
Hugs, Trish

Hello, everyone! Good to see a posting from Patticakes :). Saw one from Sewsoft the other day, and one from Middlesis (Paula) too!

Trish, you must be so proud of Katie! Enjoy the moments, Mom! I'm so happy for you :).

Terri, I'm so glad you got some rain. I kept wishing mine your way.

Jan, Emily is such a cutie pie!! So glad you shared her picture with us.

This site always gives me such a lift. I only had work till 2:30 today, so enjoying a quiet afternoon and of course time spent seeing how y'all are doing, about to do sewing on some floral blocks. I made all the 9 patches, now to make them "disappear" :).

Hi Ladies
What a rainy day! It has been steady all day.
Friends, my days here may be a bit more scattered for the next little while. At the Dr's today, we learned that Mom's blood work didn't look as good as we hoped. She has leukemia - although different from our Jan's Em. It is the type that many senior's get and in normal situations does not create issues. My Mom, God love her, has never been normal. She has a blood disorder besides the leuk. which I can't spell and has no spleen. This means she catches a cold and is in the hospital. Something is flaring up and the dr. is setting up some treatments and possible transfusion.
I am going to have to readjust my schedule around hers for a time and be spending the nights down there as well. Sis will take some turns with me but her hubs needs her home more. Plus, Sis does better with me around. Mom can be quite stubborn but I can handle her little red wagon. lol.
So, on the times I can't get in, if you think of me, say a prayer for Mom. I am believing that everything will be fine. It has been awhile since she has had an issue with this type of thing.
I will be poking in hopefully more than I anticipate.
Big hugs and mucho love to my sisters.
Blondie

Got 13 of 25 blocks done. More tomorrow.

Not much to tell today.

It has been one of those days. I had a bunch of running around to do this morning and then had Miss Em here this afternoon so we could finish her Halloween costume - Pebbles. She made the bone for her hair and I did the PINK spotted leopard outfit. It sure turned out cute. While she was here DD called Al and needed to be picked up at the car repair shop - her 12 passenger van started making a horrendous noise. Turns out the transmission gave up the ghost. Don't know how that one is going to turn out . . . she borrowed my van to transport kids. They have to have the van but DSIL has another layoff this coming week, was off last week on layoff (if they don't do at least two weeks in a row the guys can't draw unemployment). I know they don't have the money for repairs now - but maybe it will be a cheap quick fix. Praying hard.

I've been pretty sad today. Six and a half years ago my very best friend passed away in my arms. I keep in touch with her only daughter and found out today she had to have my friends chocolate lab put down. It was the last present my friend's husband had given her before he died. Patty just couldn't go on without him and it was a quick down hill for her after his passing. Having Sadie put down just really hit me hard. There isn't a day goes by that I don't think of Patty. I miss her so very much.

I'm getting an error message on my sewing machine every once in a while. If I turn it off and then turn it back on it goes away and works fine for a while and then I get the message again. Time to take it in for general maintenance and cleaning, I guess. Hate to do that at this time of the year.

Sending special prayers to Blondie - it is never easy dealing with health issues - whether it's your own or your parents or a loved one, friend, other family member . . . Hugs for everyone here.

So sorry to hear about your best friend, Sandy. I can't imagine losing mine - I'm sure it would hurt everyday. And now her dog - I am sending you some HUGS and maybe the pain will be eased somewhat.

Cyndi, I know, You were Younger!!! I always was so active. I thought I can't wait to have grandkids to love, hug, wrestle with.... I thought I would have boys but no. My son has 3 girls, and my Daughter has 2 boys and a girl, I can't keep up with any of them! All I keep saying is "Thank you God, for letting me be a young mother!" My kids were at age 19 and 25. We adopted our daughter. I watch my son, who is now 43, with an 11year old, a 9 year old and a 5 year old and think to myself " God help him". lol

Blondie and Sandy, prayers are going up for both of you. Blondie, I pray for your Mom. And for you to have the strength you will need. Emily doesn't have Leukemia Hon. She has Idiopathic Auto Acquired Aplastic Anemia. Some Leukemia patients get this as well. If they cure the Leukemia, AA disappears. With Em it is incurable. They even contemplated giving her Leukemia to see if they cured it that the AA would go. But her first Dr. told the others they were nuts and wouldn't let them. Thank God! Anyway, thats not either here nor there. I am so sorry your Mom has Leukemia. We will pray hard for a cure. If there is anything you need, I will try and help. Just let me know.
Sandy, It is so hard when you are there when a friend passes. I'll bet though that you were a comfort to her. God Bless you for being with her to help her pass quietly and peacefully to God.
That was a gift to her and her family.
If either of you need anything, call me. Just to talk, or anything! Love you both so much, God Bless, Jan L.
