When you can't see out of one eye and have the other one bandaged for two hours you begin to realize how precious your vision is.

Had my first shot in my left eyeball. In fact the doctor did the shot and I didn't even realize it. Next shot May 7. I'll be using a whole lot of artificial tears. And trying to adjust to blurry vision. Can't get a refraction for about 10 weeks. Not seeing the best right now.

Thanks for all the warm wishes.

I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this, Sandy. I lost my vision in one eye temporarily a few years ago and it was very tough to deal with. My prayers and best wishes are with you. ((HUGS))

Wishing you the best--it has to be a relief that you didn't feel the injection...I would have worried about that, I think.

Had my first shot in my left eyeball. In fact the doctor did the shot and I didn't even realize it.

Ack! They would have had to stick the needle through my eyelid. I don't think I could have opened my eye for that.

Best wishes, crossed fingers, good thoughts and daily prayers for you, Lady. :icon_hug:

Thought maybe you could see bigger better.

Oh, Sandy... You know you have my thoughts and prayers.... I learned how precious vision is this year, too..

They usually give you something, so you don't realize about the shot, and have no memory of it. Thank goodness!

Are you in any pain? I hope not... Those artificial tears should help.

Please keep us up on how you are.... God bless...

You know I am praying for you and this treatment to work.. My cataracts should be coming off soon since my eye sight is getting worse... I don't think I'm as brave as you with the "shots"... but have been thru all that already... and it worked great for me.

We are in a similar boat, Jean - my right eye is legally blind. I do have minimal peripheral vision left. Hence, I fooled Al by being able to walk from the office to the car and in the house without him hovering over me. Think that makes it definitely scary when facing this new treatment.

Take care of your eyes - if you have both you are truly blessed.

I read not long ago they are working to create a reservoir in the eye for the macular degeneration drugs so people don't have to do the regular shots. don't know how far down the road this technology is...maybe not far. Best of luck with this...worked with visually handicapped people when first out of college...have tremendous respect for vision. Have even greater respect for people who deal positively with vision problems. It is a true challenge. Prayers.

I did quite a bit of research and my ophthalmologist spent a great deal of time discussing various options. For instance, in the UK they are doing trials using low volume radiology in an effort to control wet macular degeneration. Probably a good 5-7 years down the road it it is successful, before it would be available here. I'm genetically predisposed to this problem - Mom had it and wasn't treated. I remember her telling me the pasture was covered with these little red flowers. Now I know what she meant - I'm not there yet.

Lost the vision in my right eye when I was in my 20's, so I have a great deal of respect for vision.

Thanks for all the encouragement and good wishes. I am still functioning quite well.
