Oh so sorry. That is the worst decision you ever have to make as a pet owner. Thirteen is a good age for a Lab to live to. You took very good care of her, find comfort in knowing you gave her a wonderful life.

So sorry to hear this, my heart goes out to you. There is a wonderful book called Dog Heaven - you can get it on Amazon - check it out, it reads like a children's book and is very comforting (not a religious book, just talks about what happens to our dogs after they leave us).

I am so sorry because I do so understand. Recently I had to put down my puppy of only 70 days - just long enough to have her firmly embedded in my heart and soul. At six months old she was in the process of dying from genetic kidney failure and had been from her birth. Have had 14 yr olds needed to put down also. It does not get one whit better no matter how long or short their stay has been with you, they are still your family member, and losing a family member is painful. My only consolation is she is no longer in pain.

I'm so sorry. It is heartbreaking. But even worse is allowing our beloved pet to suffer. My heart is breaking for you but remember that sometimes it is because we no longer want them to suffer that we have to make that decision.

I lost my beloved yellow tabby cat "Buffy" in November 2014.....just a few months ago.....Buffy was 15 yrs old. He went to sleep, and just never woke up.
Buffy is the 2nd cat we have lost, and we lost a beloved schnauzer named Heidi 19 yrs ago.....so I know just how hard losing a beloved animal can be.
Please accept my sympathy for your loss of your beloved Sadie .......

They live such short lives but it's worth the grief we experience when the time comes to let go. They bring so much joy to our lives. So sorry you had to say goodbye.

I am so sorry for your loss and send you giant hugs! It is a tough decision to make but it was made with love for your lovely Sadie.
We recently had the same experience with our lab Shannon and I know the loss you are feeling.
The vet said that the reason we have them beyond their life expectancy is that we love them and care for them so well that they end up with the disease of old age. And there is no way to change that stage of life.
So enjoy your memories and know that you love Sadie for all these years and she loved you back till the end.

Ah, Denise, we had to say goodbye to our Tweetie of 19 years just Monday. 13 years for a lab is remarkable and you must have been a good fur baby parent for Sadie to be with you so long. It does break your heart, but it will also mend with all the fond memories you have of her together. Hugs from us and all forum members for support in this needy time.
