View Full Version : Prayers for Buffalo

Hi, Quilty Friends,
Please keep the city of Buffalo, New York, in your prayers. As many of you know, they have had a year's worth of snow in the past week. The following was posted on FaceBook by my daughter's friend, whose husband owns a snow-plow. They decided a couple of days ago to just start going to the city and doing whatever they could to help, not as a business venture, but just as good neighbors:

"I have 5 different crews in Buffalo, that I've been dispatching since 10 am yesterday. They have worked through the night and are completely exhausted and dehydrated. The calls I've received in these last 24 hours have been devastating and I don't think anyone fully understands the severity of what is going on. The men are averaging 3 hours minimum per driveway and dealing with snow on roofs that is in excess of 4 feet deep. This snow is now being rained on and is increasing in weight. We are taking as many precautions as we can, but are dealing with the threat of the roofs collapsing while our men are up there and on top of the residents. There are people who's roads are untouched with 8' of snow and there is no entry for us to get to their driveway to plow them out. These people are without food, water and medications. Fema trucks ate being escorted in. This is an emergency. Its going to get worse before better. Please pray for our men's safety and Buffalo."

Let's keep the residents and rescuers in our prayers!
Thanks, everyone,

Thanks for reminding us folks who live in warmer climes about the problems of excessive snowfall. I'll be remembering the residents and city workers of Buffalo in my prayers. I've lived on the Gulf Coast of Texas my entire life and I've seen snow here fewer times than I have fingers on both hands. These issues don't even register with me, but I'm aware of them now. I'm praying for the safety of all concerned.

I lived outside of Rochester in the late 70's - early 80's and recall one winter when we had 77 inches of snow. I can't imagine almost 100 inches. Prayers continue for everyone's safety.

I can't even comprehend what this must be like. It sounds frightening. Prayers for the Buffalo area.

I still have family there, and have been praying since this storm hit. All are ok, but it is causing some very bad things still, and will continue to do so, especially with the ensuing "melt". God Bless all who have all so willingly stepped up to help these folks and are working diligently to aid them!

Sally, thank you for this message. It's hard to believe how much snow that must be. I will keep them all in my prayers.
