View Full Version : Buffalo, NY Baby Delivered in Snowstorm

I just watched the CNN video clip of the baby who was born during the Buffalo snowstorm. Wow, that was such a God-thing! The husband, Jared Hojnacki, went out to get help after his wife went in labor, came across some firemen who were helping a woman who "just happened" to be labor & delivery nurse. They took mom & baby to the fire station. A maternity nurse (after delivery care) came along & helped as well. Everyone is doing fine. The baby girl is named Lucy Grace. Another example of how God protects & helps us in the tough circumstances of life. (Sorry, I don't know how to do the link.) I just cannot imagine having 5 ft. of snow in my yard! JCY

This is not uncommon in the heavy snow areas! When I worked OB in NY we had at least one outside delivery admitted during each heavy snowstorm! I used to feel so bad for the parents! They were so stressed by the time we got them!
Thanks for the info!!

I would probably suggest naming her Snow White for fun!

Glad they are all well.

Wiggles was born in the middle of the worst snowstorm in a few years here. It took a neighbors farm tractor to clear our driveway, we passed the plows on the interstate, then the road was closed so we ended up getting a police escort to the hospital for the final leg. We did make it in time but it was a terrifying ride there.

Family planning advice: Make babies so they are due during warm weather, that day took years off my life I'll never get back.

Wow, so glad mom and baby are fine. This is such a dangerous storm for many people. Some have lost their lives because of it. Prayers for all those in the middle of this storm and for the rescuers who have to be out in it.

My Step-Son lives in Buffalo. He posted a few pics on Facebook. I'm sure happy that it missed us!! I guess the Thru way is still closed down. Some of the houses are falling in because of so much snow on the roofs.
