View Full Version : Weekend Travel Bag

August 8th, 2011, 07:12 PM
My quilter friends all have lovely quilted weekend bags (luggage) that they pack their clothes in for our quilting get-aways. I want to make one for myself but I can't find a pattern. I've been to a bunch of pattern websites but they never have any big weekend type of travel bags (something like 20" x 12" x 12"). If you have any good pattern ideas, please let me know!

I have one tucked away somewhere that I've always felt would be a great travel bag - just need to locate it for you. Hang in there!
I'll be back . . .

hope you find it. thanks for looking. I'm surprised that the quilting magazines don't seem to show other items besides quilts or table runners as projects. I have a lot of these and tons of quilting books and no big weekend type of bags are in them, only totes.

Okay, found it: http://wkdesigner.wordpress.com/2009/01/17/the-weekender/

I LOVE that bag - and you could easily make it and quilt it. Hope these help you out!!

I made a quilt bag (something like 26x18) that I can find the pattern if your interested. Here is a picture of it. Some gals used it for a carry on, some bring their sewing supplies to class and some store quilts in it. I have misc quilting supplies in mine right now. Here's a picture of it. Dianne

***A small child can fit in this quilt bag!!!!!!!

If you haven't decided on a bag yet, check this one out:

DD and I saw this at the sewing expo last spring and bought it. It is big, easy and you can make additional covers for it. I made one and really like it. DD travels with it.
