Hi, I am new to quilting but not to art or needle work.

    Hi Everyone,

My mom always made quilts. She taught me to embroider when I was only nine years old. I love to cross stitch too. I paint and draw. I have three quilt tops started but have not had the courage to actually put them together. I am afraid I will ruin them. Especially the one I spent so long embroidering by hand.

I like all quilts but I especially like Star quilts, Pictorial quilts and miniatures. I am also interested in fiber arts and I want to experiment with using fabric and/or mixed media instead of paints.

I tried taking a quilt class years ago but when I was on my fourth or fifth block the lady realized that the pieced blocks and the appliqued blocks were not the same size and then she said we would just force them to fit!!! The pieced blocks were beautiful, laying flat with perfect corners. I was so proud. I was not about to just "make them fit."

I was so disgusted I never went back.

Now I am medically retired and I am rearing to get started and actually get these done and make others too.

    Thanks for having me here.

Welcome, Linda! Trust me, when you get bit by the quilting bug, there will be no stopping you! Have you checked out the MSQC tutorials on You Tube? Jenny and her team do a wonderful job of explaining. You won't ruin them....there are no quilt police. You will love it here, just keep coming back. You will learn tons of great stuff. (besides which, the fellow quilters are great people!)
PS Stopped in Sedalia on our way to visit my brother who lives on the Lake of the Ozark. I named my DGD doll Sedalia after that trip. Beautiful country!!!

Welcome from Connecticut! Don't let that quilting class scare you. Everyone here is very helpful and you will get all the guidance you need. I'd suggest the tutorials for your next quilting class. Enjoy and hope you have fun.
