You suggested that I check my machine's foot pedal to see if any thread or other stuff was caught in it and causing the machine to sew after I took my foot off the pedal and at times just to sew by itself. No threads found but did find that the coating on the wires into the foot pedal has worn away. Wrapped some tape around the area just to be sure but will not sew with that machine until I get a new foot pedal. Seem to remember having the same problem with the first Pfaff I had. Hi May.........that happened to me too. I had to replace to foot pedal.

wow...my foot pedal is kind of all enclosed (I have a Janome tho)...could this happen to mine also? Glad Sandy's suggestion worked!

You sure be welcome, May - frayed wires are nothing to play around with. Hope the new pedal arrives soon and works perfectomundo,.

You should call the manufacturer and let them know maybe they have a bad batch out there.
