I am about to brag, so be prepared...My future daughter-in-law graduated from the University of Texas Medical School, Houston, Friday night. We are so proud of her. She will begin her surgical residency at Baylor College of Medicine later this month. She has worked so hard and sacrificed so much but she has achieved her dream. She is beautiful (her picture does not do her justice at all), kind, compassionate and brilliant. She has another 5 years of residency ahead of her. Somewhere during that time she and my son plan to get married. I'm guessing more grandchildren for me are a long way off. lol In the mean time she will be step-mom to my grandson. I am proud to present Dr. Genna Lubrano.

Congratulations to the entire family and especially to the new doc! Be prepared to not see her much during residency when she is on call. Does she know yet what her specialty will be? I can't remember when that happens - residency or intern.

I now have 2 nephew in laws that are docs - one was already established when he came into the family, the other we watched the process since med school. Both are brilliant, but very down to earth people and am happy to have them both in the family. :)

Thank you all for your congratulations. Like I said, I just couldn't help myself... Before she began medical school her interest was in pediatric plastic surgery but that is not a specialty you can just jump into. Her residency will be in general surgery at Baylor but she told me yesterday that her goal and interests right now are in thoracic surgery. If she's happy, I'm happy. I am going to pass on all your well wishes to her. She is going to need all the moral support she can get.

Thanks again. I appreciate all of you so very much.

Congratulations are certainly in order!! I have always believed it takes a really special person to be a good Doctor. It sounds like your future DIL has all the right attributes. Sounds like she will be very successful in whatever field she specialises in. All the very best to her for a great career.

Gerri, yea! So Happy for your darling family. Your cute son better get on the ball and marry that lovely creature! Maybe I've just watched too many shows with all the little romances that develop among the young interns, but she is one darling woman and he better not risk any chance of her being stolen away! Lol, (Just Kidding!) They make such a sweet family! :icon_tup:
