View Full Version : Prayers Please For My Nephew

May 29th, 2014, 09:57 PM
My nephew works as a maintenance worker at an apartment complex. He was trying to put a new door knob in a door with a router, the router bit broke and hit him in the forehead above the eyebrow, traveled down to his eye, and then down his cheek. He just got out of a 7 hour surgery to repair the damage. No, he was not wearing safety goggles, and my DH is a safety director and I hear about this stuff all the time. He will have to have more surgery to do more repairs once the swelling goes down. They don't know about his vision. Last night my sister was told he will never have the same vision as what he did. The doctors today didn't know. Please pray that he gets his vision back. He has severe learning disabilities and is limited on the type of work he can do. He's 33 and still has a long life ahead of him.

This is such unfortunate news. Let's just hope he doesn't lose complete sight in that eye. Poor guy. We all are careless at certain times in our lives, but most of us are fortunate that no serious consequence occurs from our casual attitude. I'm sorry this young man wasn't as lucky.

Very sad. I have a workshop full of tools and the router is probably one of, if not the scariest for me to use. Everyone respects something like a table saw because it is obvious how dangerous that big spinning blade is but the router doesn't look all that dangerous so often it is not treated with the same level of respect.

I hope he makes a full recovery.

He will be in my prayers!! Sending virtual {{ HUGS}} your way!!

BTW... I hear ya on the safety inspector thing. Hubby is the "certified safety manager" at his company.... Although he never follows his own rules and has more workmans comp claims in the past ten years due to his own stupidity (I.e. He wasn't paying attention and got his foot ran over by a tow motor).
