Happy Tuesday Folksies

Yes, I am late again this morning. School is on a 3 hour delay - never heard of that - because of icy roads. So, we both slept in and that extra bit of nod time did me good. I mean, I still woke up every hour on the hour, just relaxed knowing I didn't have to jump up and get happy about it.

Yesterday was a fairly productive day for me. I had received some COC blocks from one of our Angel Members. I have started to QAYG on the machine and I have more control doing sections at a time as opposed to a larger project. Even though COC's are at largest a generous lap quilt, that is a lot of manuvering with my shoulders and hands. Plus, I find that it seems to go quicker if I do it QAYG. So, that finished except for sewing down the binding.

71156
I also have two other projects that I am working on in tandem. One is a wall hanging for my sis's birthday and the other will be a quilt for a gift. I am working on one of Bonnie Hunter's. Called Smoky Mtn. Stars. It is an ambitious project for me. Not difficult at all, just LOTS of cutting, sewing, etc. I am also going to be QAYG with FMQ on that one.

During this past winter's recovery I got my Mom hooked on the old series LOST. She is ready to watch the whole entire thing again from the beginning. She had a crush on Locke and Sawyer. It looked like a toss up to me who she would prefer to be on a desert island with. Hey, it's a no brainer for me . . . Anyway, with this missing 777, she keeps saying, it is just like LOST. How bizarre. In a way, I wish it were just like LOST. In a way, I wish it were inter dimensional, alternate time, the great vortex travel.

So folksies, tell me about your plans for the day. Since The Big Man will be home most of the morning, I will be chilling with him. Then a run down The Hill to get Mom for blood work later (another early morning dr visit in the city tomorrow). I am sick and tired of running to Dr's. At the same time, I am thankful for each of them, thankful that Mom has some very good and caring peeps.

Smile folks. Today will be a memory tomorrow - do something that will make you smile in the future.

Good Morning Blondie! I've been sitting here getting caught up on the forum waiting on ya! Glad you're here.....

Love your quilts. Smoky Mountain Stars has me wanting to cuddle under and go back to bed. That's going to be so wonderful! I love all the fabric selection. Is it cotton or flannel?

Today is my last day of training at the hospital gift shop, then I am on my own. I'll be working Friday afternoons. Just the one day a week, but it'll get me out and with people and that makes me happy!

I think there may be frost out there today. I saw a little snow in the rain yesterday and the snow level in the foothills was noticeably lower. Oy. Spring you cannot get here soon enough!

My fridge is going out :-/ Is nothing built to last anymore?? When we bought this house (8 years ago?) all the appliances were new. We have already replaced the dishwasher and now this? Must be tax refund time, right?

My DD made some homemade granola last night and she got the house to smelling so yummy! It's deelish for sure, and SO much healthier than what you can buy at the store. It's wonderful on fat free yogurt with fresh blueberries for breakfast. (Am I making anyone hungry)

I better get a few things done before the rest of the house is up and moving. Have a wonderful day. Hugs/Prayers all 'round. Smile some today. It'll make you FEEL good!

Hi Blondie! Love your projects! You've been very busy! Wish I could say the same for myself! But I was a tired ball of flesh last night, dozed off early, so I woke about 2, all bright eyed and bushy tailed! I continued to work on the prep work for another tutorial quilt, which I hope to work on today.

We have two big bundles of ornamental grasses growing in your yard. Last summer, my one granddog used one of them for his own personal private relief station every day. All that extra nutrition made that one grow extra lush! In the winter they dry out and need trimmimg. It is a most disliked task for me because it is so hard to corral the trimmimgs to get them to the yardwaste trash. I had my daughter and grandkids help. She was a great help, but the kids not so much! Glad to get that done!

Hope to quilt today! Have a great day!

Hi gals
Aww, Libby, homemade granola! I can smell and taste it from here. Wow. I never make anything healthy or non fattening. Hmm.
Good for you with the volunteering on Fridays. See, you are the kind of person that would make anyone feel better about having to visit someone in the hospital and I betcha you will be able to make that little league some extra $$. Enjoy.

Jean, you HAVE been so productive and BUSY. If anyone need a break, it's you. Let's see, hmmm, I've lost count of your completed tops this year. PLUS costuming. Your activities make me tired and trust me, I have lots of energy. Love ya loads, Jean.

I have been considering luring my son and is wife, together with the 5 grands to my home for yardwork. I think I would use lasagna and chocolate chip cookies as bait. DIL is a farm girl and knows what hard work is all about, and they motivate that army of kids like nothing I have ever seen. I could get my Winter mess cleaned up and ready for Spring for the price of a good meal and desert!

Blondie, My Joshua got us into watching Lost last year. We loved it. I also had my "crush", but that's another story. It's funny you mention this because we had the same discussion about that missing plane. Whoa. I pray we get some closure on that, and soon. Those poor families who are stuck not knowing.

Morning everyone! Blondie the projects are beautiful! I too, love the star one! Yesterday was back to work for me..and back to the location that I spent most of my February. I had been on vacation the first week of March and then with my RM on vacation at my store ..I spent last week there...which was a record week in sales for us and many of the locations. Well let's just say, my step children regressed in the 2 weeks I was gone. Owner and district manager(DH) were in....not happy...they are kind of at the end of their rope. So today, I guess I am going to figure out how to lengthen the rope...dunno. Good help really is hard to find. We are a high standards, demanding company. Poor girl that runs it...just doesn't manage well... She really tries I believe...anyhow...that's my day ahead.

Last night I went to a new club at the LQS. Stripe tease! It's a club using stripes and a ruler. I will post my first block when I get it done. It looks interesting!

Dd is sick...completely miserable. She is going to the dr when they open at 10. But texted me at 4 am this morning that she didn't think she had felt this bad ever. Poor baby...wish she was here. Hate when they are away and I can't do anything.

Here's a picture if the block for the prairie rose quilt I worked on Sunday.

I've was up early, while the coffee was brewing I cleaned the dining room and kitchen floors, check out emails, and now am here seeing what's doing today. Next I have to find all the stuff I put away while family visited for the weekend and rest of family was here on Sunday for DH's Bday. Really have to find where I put my basting pins as I am ready to pin baste 2 quilts. Will get as far as I can for the basting until DH is ready to go food shopping and errand running with me this afternoon. We are low or out of almost everything except salad and big pieces of frozen Bday cake. I miss my fruit, especially those little clementine oranges.

Going to get a coffee refill and then try to get my DGD Josi off my Facebook profile. She was using my computer while she was here and did something to my FB page and now I'm getting tons of messages from her friends.

Morning...I'm having a slow day. I have to make a post office run this morning. Jeff and I will run to Walmart after work and then eat dinner out so I don't have to cook. We had our corned beef and cabbage meal last night for St Pat's Day.

Libby, I think you'll do great in the gift shop. You're a natural! Blondie, I love your projects. The COC quilt is so pretty and the BH stars are to die for.

I would love to get Jeff's quilt trimmed so I can sew on the binding. Wishing you all a great day....

Wow. By the time I get here in the morning everyone has finished all their household chores, solved a lot of world-wide issues, and gone shopping. And I'm tired just reading about it. Wish I got cooperation with the girls in picking up and doing the yard work - they usually have all kinds of lazy excuses . . . don't want to sweat a bit. Time for me to get the whip out, don'tcha think?

Blondie your quilt tops are GEEorgeous! Loving what you are doing. I have two separate stacks of fabric that I bought specifically for COC quilts. Guess I'd better shake my fanny and get something in the mail to you.

Al and I were reading reports of the Snow Geese traveling through our area. They stop at a reserve about 30 miles from our house. So, do we take a run up there with the camera or is it going to be so crowded that we won't be able to get close enough to see them? Hopefully that means that Spring will be here on Thursday? My daughter keeps reminding me that it did snow here three times in MAY last year . . .

Off to play with thread and fabric today. I may pull out a quilt top that I bought at a thrift store and let Al do some FMQ of his own today? What say. Should I start paying him??

Keep the smiles coming, they keep me smiling - if only on the inside.

Good Mornin' Sweet Friends,
Blondie, those soft colors in that COC quilt are so lovely, like a spectacular sun rise. I am loving the smokey mnt. stars, they have a cool folksie, 'twist' thing going on that I like a lot.

Libby, I swear I can almost smell that granola! Sounds like a little piece of heaven to me. Best wishes in the gift shop, I think you will be amazing. . . And, don't beat your self up over the dumb, little things that always tend to come up, when we first begin something new. Just be your cheerful, kind amazing self and people will love you, like we do.

Mary, the Prairie Rose quilt block is Beeeuuuutiful!!!

Barb, I hope you DO get a chance to trim and bind Jeff's quilt, I really wanna see it!

Sandy, dear Sandy, YES, sometimes you do have to just get up in the morning and put yourself into 'military mode' and let that awesome household know that 'Today, this IS what WE are doing. . .ALL that live here, WILL help, . . . period!' Then of course you can follow up the project with treats and hugs and good grandma thank yous. ;)

You ALL make my day brighter, hugs and prayers all around. Make it a beautiful day! ~love, Sheri

Good morning! I'm running late this morning...procrastinating could be more like it. I've GOT to work on taxes today for sure. I hate tax prep and tend to put it off. I finished all those 3.5" string-pieced blocks yesterday, now I need to get them sewn into borders and on the wall hanging. Then I'll be ready to sandwich and quilt that sucker.

Tomorrow, I'm going to pesticide certification training with DH. He's renewing his certification. If I pass the test, I'll be certified to buy commercial pesticides and herbicides too. Look out bugs and weeds!

Blondie, how are you doing your QAYG....each block separately, etc? I'd like to FMQ bigger quilts but I don't feel like I'm ready to tackle it all at once.

Hey Sandy, never offer to pay when someone doesn't know it is supposed to be work. JMHO. God bless Al. Now those girls . . . ship 'em to Auntie Blondie for a week and they will be begging to do YOUR chores. lol.

Thanks friends for looking at my COC and Smokey Mtn Stars. It is really an easy peasy pattern. All of Bonnie Hunter's are and they suit my folky scrappy heart. The only thing is I really need a visual to keep the rows lined up. Oy, thanking the Good Lord for a new frogger that I got for Christmas from my Secret Santa. Oh yeah, works great - just wish I didn't have to use it.

A dear friend is coming over this afternoon, roads willing, to show me her rotary blade sharpener she purchased recently. I have a stack of blades in the waiting. She said no nicks. Are they visible to the nekked eye with reading glasses on?

Oh and schools were cancelled today for icy roads. I reckon I will have Mr Luscious carry Mom to the dentist and dr today. I know he will love me anyway. Hey, I am still in my pajama bottoms with a sweatshirt over my jammy top. I ain't gonna go nowhere if'n I don't have to. I reckon I will have to make him something yummy for dinner. Small price to pay for skirting dr offices. Tomorrow is the biggie anyway. In the city, all day. Shucks.

Good Morning Everyone! Blondie I love your projects. They are so pretty. I'm still struggling finding time to sew, but I do have two more baby quilts almost completed. I made the binding last night but was so sleepy after that I didn't dare try to start sewing them on. I'll do that tonight.
Blondie I don't know about your side of the state, but here we have ice covering everything. While the trees look pretty, all the flowering trees and spring flowers are blooming so I'm afraid all this ice will do them in :(
Has anyone every had to get designs/quotes for a bathroom remodel? How did you start that process? I'd like to get 3 quotes but want to see designs with those quotes. Is that normal lol.
Happy quilting everyone. Hugs to all and prayers to those in need.

Ginny, it is pretty icy here but not as bad as y'all. We got more of a mix of snow and some sleet. The ground looks like a confectioner sugar over a mud pie. haha
Have you thought of looking into Angie's list for your bids? I know of some family members and friends who have been very happy with that service since it is pretty well advertised and vetted.

Glad you could sleep in a little this morning Blondie. Always nice to start the day relaxed. You have some beautiful projects going on. I especially like the Smokey Mountain Stars. May have to keep that one in mind for one day.

I was wondering when someone would mention this plane situation. So much speculation going on. It's bizarre.

Dr. offices are just no fun. Whenever I take my mom, or in the past my dad, I would try to make it fun. It's just hard.

I got up early this morning and did a few things around the house and most importantly changed out my needle and thread on my sewing machine. Got it all set up to sew together some denim when I get home today. Hoping it goes smoothly. I took a few practice runs so I should be good to go. Yesterday was a BEAR of a day and I was so glad when the work day was over. Nothing went right yesterday and I'm so glad it's a memory now!!

Have a great Tuesday everyone!!!

Blondie beautiful quilts. Mary, I really like your quilt block.

We had sunshine earlier today, now it is becoming cloudy. I was slow to get out of bed this morning, the fibro has kicked in big time the last two days. I know it is stress dealing with my husband's and my mom's medical issues. He went to the doctor yesterday and the doctor is running some blood work tests. And my mom is having a test ran today after being at the doctor yesterday. She still is not recovered from her surgery on February 12 and they can't seem to figure out why.

Later today I'm going to work some more on the Irish Chain 9 patches. I will get them done one of these day. I think I have 144 of them to do. I would like to get some binding on two quilts and continue to work on the jelly roll bags. Not sure how much I will get done with the pain. But a little work gets me one step closer to a finished project.

Stay safe those who have bad weather right now. I keep thinking that spring is right around the corner.

Have a great day everyone :)

Blondie, your quilts are gorgeous...I love the Smoky Mountain Stars very much....I want to get back to do some small quilted soon...I'm always so busy sewing my applique shirts...
this past Saturday was my first craft show of the year and I really did well...I was so surprised because usually the spring shows aren't as good as the fall and winter ones for me...I did sell 22 shirts, 5 sets of potholders, my cat wall hanging panel, a couple sport team onesies and a cross stitch towel...I have another small show on April 11th...
I want to do some quilt projects...
I love to read what everyone has done and are doing each day...thank you Blondie and all for my good reading each day....

Well, I made it to the Netherlands!!! Yesterday (your Sunday) was quite exhausting! A friend dropped me off at LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) about two hours before flight time at 5 pm. Everything went smoothly on both flights. I didn't fly non-stop since the cost difference was outrageous. The company is paying for it but still... $800 as opposed to $4000??? I obviously opted for the $800 fare and had a 3-hour layover at Heathrow in London. By the time I reached Baarn it was about 16 hours from the time I left Orange County. I don't sleep well sitting up so I was a pretty tired gal by the time I reached my destination.

The house we're renting is quite nice. It's a three-story place with a glass-enclosed front porch and a lovely garden in the backyard. Lots of room inside with plenty of built-ins, big closets, etc. so no problem with storage. I haven't been in the basement but Joe says there's another freezer/fridge combo there. He informs me that he has quite a beer collection in that fridge. hahaha

I spent some time organizing my clothes and shoes, etc. Maybe tomorrow I'll start working on the sewing room. Lots to do. I imagine we'll venture into the village tomorrow. I wasn't really up for a walk today. Hopefully, I'll have more get-up-and-go tomorrow. I'll try to post some pictures soon.

Love your quilts, Blondie. Mary that's a gorgeous block!

Rebecca! Glad you made it to the Netherlands without incident! And those airplane ticket prices are crazy! I hope you get to see the tulips this spring. I was so tempted by offers for a Viking River Cruise out of Amsterdam to see the tulips!

Please keep quilting and sharing on the forum while you are there! I guess the quilting will be on your agenda as you are getting the sewing room set up right away! Enjoy your time there, perhaps you will get a chance to meet up with Klasien and Lenie and maybe Michelle from Luxemborg. Sounds like a great adventure!

Good Day!

I poked around here a bit and then went out to check on the farm since it was between rain showers. Everybody is holding their own. I have a few girls due to kid next week, but they are young ones and the get squirrely with their due dates.

I pawed through the freezer to decide what was for supper. About 10 minutes after I started to brown the pork roast, hubby calls. "Would you like to go out for dinner for your birthday?" Uhhhh, yeah! I would really love that, but I have the roast defrosted and started cooking! I asked if I could have a rain check until tomorrow night. So tomorrow I won't have to cook or clean up! Whoo Hoo!

So now I have to make a run into town. A stop at the library then at the nursery to check to see if they carry Blue Orchard Mason bees. There was something I was going to bring by the LQS to show one of the ladies, but since I didn't write it down, I can't remember it now. Oh well. I'll eventually remember.

Perhaps by this evening I'll be able to get back in the sewing room!

I hope you all have a fantastic day!
Hugs, Cathy
