When this mess with my work started, I contacted my Union. I felt it was their responsibility to help me, but he said since it was thru L & I, he did not know if they could get involved or not and would have to consult with the Union attorney to see just what they could do.

Well, this morning I got to work and this email was there waiting for me.....I may have actually started singing!

Cynthia, after reviewing the information that is provided and attached it would appear to me that as a result of a claim settlement reached between her and L&I that she is permanently restricted from 12 hour days and is alternatively restricted to an 8 hour workday. Due to the nature of this permanent settlement agreement it would also not seem fruitful at this time for Pat to sign a release as the information provided seems to clearly state that she is permanently restricted with an irreversible condition that is non-curative in nature and could only worsen over time. Please let me know the Agency's position on this issue. Thank you and I hope all is well.

Cynthia is the woman whom I refer to by another name that starts w/the letter 'B' and it's not Barbara. Could this be the light at the end of the tunnel??

Also at class last night, I was talking to a friend who has a disability retirement. She was a nurse for 29 years and suffers from PTSD which causes her to be bipolar. I asked her what it took and she told me three years of fighting and finally going to court!! She went on to say that with physical disabilities it normally only takes about two months because it is pretty obvious. Have not decided yet if that is the route I might take, but it's looking like a possibility. It is not worth it to sit here in pain every single day. When I don't work, it's much better, but since I am forced to work six days a week, you don't get to relax much on that one day.

So, anyway, just thought I'd give the latest update. Let's hope she has been put in her place and doesn't take it out on me!

Good luck with that!
I hope Bi , uhh, Cynthia, can read and understand the message from the union lawyer. I hope this is nearly over, and you can get on with work and not have to go to court over it.

Me too! We have been researching the disablility aspect and I clearly qualify to do that....I just feel like it's using the system. We will see how I feel if this pain doesn't leave my body! It has never been this bad since the injury and 24 hour pain is not an enjoyable thing to live with!

Monkeyman had been very sweet through it all....have to love that guy!

I hope this goes well, I'm sure you deserve their understanding and of course to be pain free!!

I hope it gets worked out. And that your pain eases. I do have a couple of friends who have had to take disability, each case was different so the amount of time it took to get it varied.
