I think we have had it all today, Sleet, snow, freezing rain, heavy snow, freezing rain , heavy snow , now it is starting to let up but high winds is next. After shoveling my drive twice I checked to see if it was still clear and it was all ice and now that is covered in snow. Champaign had thunder snow around noon. One crazy weather day.

Ann, we had the same here today - it finally stopped around 3. At lunchtime today, I saw lightning before the thunder, while it was snowing/freezing rain/sleeting all at the same time! Usually when we have thunder snow, you don't really see the lightning, today it was very bright and a big boomer.
I am seriously wondering why we still live here...........Lisa

First time I was in a snow thunder storm it latterly freaked me out!! That was several years ago when I lived in the mountains. Hope your weather takes a turn for the best soon.Comment

My husband was called out at 4
0 this morning when it was freezing rain, then it turned to sleet and then to snow. We had over 2 inches snow by noon, then the sun came out, temp got up to 46 and by 30 this afternoon the snow and ice was gone off out driveway...it's supposed to get up into the 40's again tomorrow so maybe the rest of the snow can start melting...CRAZY weather!

Had about 5 1/2 inches on the south side of Chicago (Midway Airport.) Earlier this afternoon couldn't even see the school on the corner a block away.
6:30pm it's slowing down and the flakes are getting smaller. Tired of seeing white - heading south next week - and watch the weather up north will probably turn around and be beautiful after I leave!Comment

We had a snow day today; 5 inches. Had to cancel bringing little Eli his quilt and (giving his mom a little break as well ) but they live on the other side of the metro - about 40 minutes or so away on a good day. So we ate the lunch we were bringing to them and I had a lovely sewing day with the pretty snowflakes flying all around my porch/sewing room. It was nice having DH and DD's around. Just a sweet day.Comment
