This is my state in Australia with the current bushfires.....today at one stage this afternoon there was 5 fires going all within 5 to 10 mins away closet was only 3 kilometres or 1.8 miles... from me......Thankfully they were contained and put out quickly.....l was woken this morning with the sound of the American fire water bombers (sky crane)going over my house.........every year our government hires the water bombers to come over and help with any fires.........One of the fires is at a power station and it got under ground and is burning the coal open cut mine which powers the station ....... 6 of the substations have been closed down ...so there is only 2 running

I know how scary this can be. Three years ago we had a huge forest fire that came within 10 miles of us, so much further than for you. It was close enough. That fire consumed 65,000 acres, or an area 16 miles wide and 20 miles long. Over 1,600 homes were destroyed. We had gone to a bigger town to grocery shop, and by the time I came out, the fire had crossed the highway we had just come into town on, and we couldn't get home without going miles out of the way, which we did.
